It's probably still too hot.

We went to Quartzsite yesterday to check out the campgrounds. Had lunch on the patio of Tacos Mios -- a little breezy and cool in the shade. Did a little shopping as a few seasonal stores were open -- warm and windy in the sun. We'll be back for December & January -- surrounded by Canadians, eh. We opted for a full hookup site -- only $3 more per day.

A friend of mine is there now. He has been there for the past year now, living in a Winnebago and writing. He seems happy enough....

Stayed near Parker this weekend. Weather was perfect. Will be in Quartzite by December 20th. Any suggestions as to where to boondock in Q? Any AS groups forming in December?

Airstreamers in Quartzsite

Last January I stayed at the La Posa Long Term Visitors Area on BLM land with other streamers. I will be returning next January/February for the shows. Of course there is no address but the site is located off Old Yuma Road at coords 33.637802, -114.228722. BTW-the weather is sunny 70s now.

Hi All, our A/S is parked in Palm Desert right now, but we're going south for the first week in January. Thinking of heading to Quartzite for a couple of days, first time ever. Where can I find more info on "camping" either officially or boondocking. We're good for 3-4 days with no hookups of any kind, but of course want to be safe and have fun. Be best if we were around other 'Streamers.

thanks,

Don

Don, when are you thinking of coming to Q ? Right now you can have your pick of sites, especially for short term. But, come January, it should be slim pickings. There are private boondocking campgrounds in town plus BLM camping both north and west of Q. Lots of commercial campgrounds but, like the one we are in, most are already full in January. There are only a few AS here now but, there is a rally here January 23. Check the Forum listing or Blue Beret for details.

Howdy and thanks. We would be there for 1-2 nights about Jan 3 or 4. I might have some business in Blyth, and it looks like there are some RV parks there also. Maybe they'd be full in early Jan??

Don, if you want a full hookup in Q, here are two parks that maintain spaces for just over-nighters and short-termers: Holiday Palms 928-927-5666 and The Scenic Road 928-927-6443. We should be back from the Rose Bowl Rally by then - hope to see you in Q.

We'll be going to Q around Jan 15th with 2 other Airstreamers. At the end of Jan we will go to the Hobo Rally in Blythe CA (about 20 miles from Q).

In Quartzsite we will be staying out on Plamosa Road along with the Escapee Boondockers. The directions to the location are:

From intersection of AZ-95 and Business I-10 (4 corners) go north on AZ-95 for 5.6 miles to Plomosa Rd. Turn right (East) on Plomosa & go 1.6 miles. Turn left (North) on BLM road 811 (N 33 45.246 W 114 11.432) and cross the first wash then follow the road when it turns right in an easterly direction for approx. 1/4 mile.

GPS co-ordinates for the Fire Ring are N 33 45.524 W 114 11.009.

Come with full fresh water tank and empty wash & waste tanks.
