We are headed to Quartzite on Friday (12/21). Looks like we will be somewhere in the La Posa Long Term Visitors Area on BLM land. If anyone is setup in another area let us know.

Can you recommend a website for the Hobo Rally?

We'll be in Death Valley in mid-JAN and consider going to the Hobo Rally but we haven't found much on the web about it - can you recommend a good site?

If you look at the Rally application form, you will see that it asks for your WBCCI number.
Generally rallies are for WBCCI members only except where it is a "buddy rally". Since you already own an Airstream product why not join - there's a lot of really nice people and enjoyable times to be had.

One reason for membership is member rallies. If you showed up, I would think they might accommodate you in hopes of your impending membership. Go, you'll have fun. The more the merrier. I'll see you there. . One more thing. Bring a large coffee can for Saturday nights dinner. No can, no stew.

Sounds interesting -- do you expect this to be "the" place for Airstreamers this season? I was planning to head out there in January and would love to hook up with some folks. Any particular dates or do you expect people to be coming and going at this location for an extended period?
This will be my first time camping out at Quartzite.

where are you?
From the coordinates (blue dot), I got an image of the area. And I can see some RVs, but can't make out any more. Or maybe this isn't the exact area!

Greetings from the "Q" - just arrived here yesterday after spending a week in Death Valley. We found a nice spot at the 99-mile marker off Hwy 95 south of town on BLM land. Weather is crystal clear about 50F and winds are blustery from the north.
Great access from the highway about a 1/4 mile west...
Better here than chilly Placitas, NM - 3 degrees there this morning!
Cheers!

Hi Don,
We found a real nice secluded area about 5 miles south of I-10 on the west side of US95. Travel south to the 99-mile marker and turn right 100 yards south of the marker. We're about 1/4 mile off the US95. There are a few folks in this area but nobody closer than several hundred yards. Travel further west for even more seclusion...
Minutes driving time to the main areas of the "Q" for trash black water dumping, fresh water refills, and good Mexican food.
We go into town every other day to top off my two 6-gallon water containers for $1/each. Be sure to bring your "honey bucket."
We're planning on heading down to Big Bend NP this Wednesday for a couple weeks to stay out of the cold WX at home...
The "Hobo Rally" starts at the end of January in Blythe - its not far from here, you may consider it since you'll be in the area.
Enjoy the Q - travel safe, amigo.
Cheers,

Bo:
We've been here a week now. Staying 1/4 mile off the US95 west of the 99-mile marker just north of the Quartzite HAM-Fest 2013 group.
You'll see a real dusty '85 25-footer with a GMC Yukon next to it - if we're home... Picture of our site attached.
Stop by and say "HELLO" if you have the chance...
Cheers,

Quick update- My wife and I went to Blyth about Jan 3rd. Stayed at Riverside (??) RV park about 3-4 miles north of Blyth on the CA side. Drove over the Quartzite and looked and bought some rocks and junk.
We were planning on Hobo ralley at the end of this month, but now other obligations prevent that. Thanks for all the info on Q! It looks like a fascinating place, even in early Jan when it seemed pretty empty. Maybe next year...
