Cool Anybody ever been to Shipshewana IN?

We would like to plan a trip to Shipewana IN. Does anyone have any suggestions for where to stay or EAT? This will be one of our first trips in our Airstream. We purchased it last fall and have been in the process of "gussing it up" ever since. Traveling up from the Volunteer State, Tennessee. Plans are for mid March if weather permits.

Happy travels
J & C

I've been there many times. I'm pretty sure the only campground open at that time of year would be a KOA (if that's even open, I'm not positive). Most places don't open until April. You should go to eat at a place called The Essenhaus Essenhaus Amish Style Inn, Conference Center & Restaurant - Middlebury, IN
that has homestyle Amish food. It's really good. Also, if you feel like a side trip, the RV Museum is pretty close by in Elkhart http://www.rvmhhalloffame.org/ (along with a couple of fun RV Surplus stores!) The town of Shipshewanna has a lot of nice shops, so it's a fun trip. In the summer time they have a giant flea market every Tuesday & Wednesday, along with an auction every Wednesday. I'm not sure when they start that up again for the season. Have fun!

I grew up going to Essenhaus. Great family style food. Amish acres is nearby in Nappanee.

I live pretty near there...maybe we can have a tiny rally
Shipshewana has some interesting shopping (Yoder's Department Store has a great selection of fabrics) and a neat little hardware store where you can buy veg seeds by the ounce. There doesn't seem to be much else to do but shop and eat. May I suggest a nice vacation to Tennessee?

Love Shipshewanna, go there a couple of times a year.

The KOAs are nice, food is great, wonderful shopping.

A rally up there would be great fun! We would come if not otherwise engaged elsewhere in the country.

To the tune of (insert just about any song here)

Shipshewanna Indiana's where you wanna take a traylah
Shipshewanna Indiana, make sure you bring a fresh banana

Shipshewanna Indiana tells you all you need to know that
Shipshewanna Indiana's where you really wanna go at.

Gotta love that name!
