In Arkansas we have tiny very intense hurricanes. We call them tornadoes. That's what the speakers are for.

They are going off right now in my neighborhood just south of Little Rock. Damage just couple of miles south, one mile east, and more on the way.

Now I also return you to regular thread scheduling.

Lake of the Ozarks, MO

the first picture is of Blanchard Springs, a totally beautiful place and a great place to camp...it is North of Mt View on Ark 14 and Gunners Pool is just up the road.

We moved up the road to Caulfield, Mo...to a coast to coast resort called Cloud 9......an ATV paradise it seems....a beautiful 6500 acre place with 6 different camp grounds....a beautiful place...nature wise...but junked up by humans in their desire to rape nature witheir ATVs and dirt bikes....
lots of rental trailers and people can leave their rigs here and most have seen better days....but it has been somewhat enjoyable as we found a secluded spot...

tornadoes have been ravaging the area and some damaged close to here in Dora, Mo, but we just got rain....

we are headed to the Lake of the Ozark area...anyone spent time in that area????

If you love Arkansas's Ozarks, you'll think you've gone to heaven in Missouri's portion of these grand old hills. The Branson area has wonderful sights and activities that I've always enjoyed, the Northfork, trout fishing, the mills, the hills and valleys and runnng water everywhere...but it's the more eastern Ozarks that have always held my heart. I grew up being taken to Big Springs on the Current River and Jacks Fork and the Irish Wilderness and the Eleven Point and on and on. Of course you're in love with this incredible country nestled right here in the heartland of our country! Now, how on earth are you going to make your choice for settling down? Best wishes and enjoy the journey and discoveries. ~G

Hey Yhottys, nice place just the same !
Thanks B4WEDI!

At least there's a chance of sirens warning of an impending tornado. In the San Francisco Bay Area, all we rely on are dogs acting differently and that certain "earthquake weather" je nais sais quoi to predict earthquakes. No warnings! We like warnings. For the most part, we usually heed them.

Happy and safe journeys,

In Love with the Ozarks

we have discovered Dawt, Dora and the area around Gainesville and want to buy the Hodgson Mill...but are only short and bout 2 million fiat dollars

we have been looking at real estate in Mountain View , Ark...and then got blown away by the beauty and scenery in this part of MO... so like a kid in a candy store...we just look and drool and move on up the road, cataloging favorite places , hoping to return.....

missouri River tour..following lewis and clark

our continuing tour of the ozarks just continues to amaze and astonish in its beauty...we entered Mo from ARK and stayed first at Caulfield and toured US 160 east and west from gainesville to doniphan, eldinore to ava and found unparreled beauty...then moved north to lake of the ozarks and found more of the same....then eastward to just south of hermann, wine country.....

we have toured Mo Route 100 into St Louis and gawked at the ARCH and followed MO Route 94 by the river from St Louis to Jefferson City....stopped on the Katy Trail in several spots...toured the fantastic wine country in Augusta and Defiance...saw Daniel Boone's final home place in St Charles.......

Missouri, the river is awsome....Missouri the countryside with its beautiful rolling countryside is breathtaking.......

we are headed to Jackson and Cape Girardeau tomorrow....

we have stayed at Cloud 9, Cross Creek, Lost Valley Lakes and then finaly Cherokee Hills.....

I love reading your enthusiasm for our home state of Missouri. It seems when people travel or ask about places to travel, they are headed for the boundaries: Up North; the Gulf, the East Coast, the West Coast, ...and beautiful Missouri is just another 300 miles or so to get through in order to get to the real delights. You've lingered long enough to sample and savor. Thanks for the reminders about this lovely region ~G

the beauty continues

we left drake Mo this morning and headed down Route 19, then Route 8 towards Cuba and Steelville....WOW>>>>WOW.......there are many resorts and places along the way to camp in this area.....a coast to coast resort in between cuba and steelville.......we have arrived in Jackson and staying at a Passport America camp called Cheeroke Hills...a lovely little place....

we have noticed everywhere we go in Mo the homes and landscapes are immaculately landscaped and everyone.....mows....mows...and mows...the ditches, hillsides...it would be nice to have a lownmower business in Mo<

and the iris's and peonies and other flowers....we saw a pair of Oriolies....as in baltimore...... from the most beautiful house in Hermann , Mo

Steelville has a great set of resorts for float trips once the weather warms up a bit. You are right about the mowing. We got in from camping at Cuivre River State park in Troy, MO today, and I am dreading the mow before we roll out to da rally!

If you are in Jackson then you are very close to Missouri's oldest covered bridge. What a great photo op this would make.

I live in Jackson, MO and it is a great place live. Suprised you didn't head on down to Trail Of Tears State Park right on the river too. Cape Girardeau isn't too far down the road. A few winerys around and other things to do. Good luck Kingfisher, Journey on.

Rain drops keep fallin on my head

Here in Jackson, Mo...a very nice Cherokee Hills campground....we travel not knowing where we are going??? so we just throw darts at a map and pick a spot and then explore the area...sometimes traveling 500 miles around the area we park in...we visit all the state parks in an area and sometimes move from where we are to a state park or some other place in the area....

There seems to be quite alot to explore in this area...the rain won't stop us but it will get us wet

We are hosting a rally near Elephant Rocks S.P. in June since it is such a nice area. Check out Big Creek RV park in Annapolis, MO and let us know how it is!

See you in a few days at the rally.

We thought Arkansas was so beautiful we bought a home in Siloam Springs when we were newlyweds with dreams of living there someday. We attached images below. It's right on Main Street, in the original downtown area. We're still working towards that but as you can see from our avatar, we in the San Francisco bay area. We'll be in Siloam Springs in May to celebrate our niece's graduation.

Enjoy your trip, we're a little envious!
I have lived in Siloam Springs all my life. Well, except for a few interludes.

I have always wondered who the “folks from CA" were that owned the place on Main Street. Funny we should meet here.

It is a great place to live, and lots of things to see and do.

Some would question the real benefit of the Waltons and Clintons. They have each taken their share of the benefits in return for any good they may have offered.

Enjoy your travels, Mt. View is a nice spot. The Arkansas Unit has had several rallies there.

Best Regards,

Jeff,

That's us. Small world isn't it? We also think that our nieces and nephews (the Tisdales) may know Remi and Hunter based on their Facebook walls.

Jeff, are you the fire chief of Siloam Springs?

We hope to meet you someday.

All the best,

I grew up just a few miles from Hodgson Mill, and have lots of nice memories about the mill when it was in operation. Also a great hang-out at the time for teens in the area. Thanks for sharing. $2.00 million huh. I seem to recall when they were asking $250,000 and us locals thought that was hilarious. My how things change.

but Mo route 181 is beautiful......found this there as well

there were seven coyotes...gathered on this fence...fresh....

what time period was the mill at 250 thou????
