Any Storage Facility Close to NYC ??????

Hello Friends

We are the proud owners of a 28' Safari which we love dearly but we live in New York City. Our only option for storage is a facility in Lakewood, New Jersey which is about two hours away on a good day. We need to store closer to home for many reasons.

Does anyone out there know of a secure and reasonable storage facility closer to Brooklyn, New York?

Your suggestions will be much appreciated. Thank you.

Sharon & Winston

NYC Parking!

Hi. I'm Bruce Littlefield, author of the book AIRSTREAM LIVING. I too live in NYC, but have a place up in the country... I know of several people who live in New York, but have made a weekend house by parking their Airstream in a campground outside of the city... You get the best of both worlds. I'm actually bringing two Airstreams to the city next week for tv promotions for my book and we found a place to park them overnight in an outdoor lot in Chelsea, but it's expensive.

Hi Sharon & Winston,

Bruce is right. We live across the Hudson and store our CCD at a campground down at the shore. Our own private alluminum beach house!!!

Having a seasonal site gives you the freedom to set up &/or leave anytime you want. We go there almost every week end and truly enjoy it. We've also taken several long trips departing from the storage campground.

Long island has quite a few campgrounds that offer seasonal sites and winter storage. Any decent guide should provide you with all their contact numbers.

...or check the jersey shore. There are several parks north of Lakewood which would be more convenient for you guys.

good luck!

PS
Many areas in Bergen, NJ, Westchester, NY and Rockland NY have zoning laws that do not allow you to park trailers on your own land for more than a few hours/days at the time.

Hello Bruce and kimili

Thank you for your responses. This is an idea that has not crossed our minds but one we will look into immediately.

We camped on the Jersey Shore two weekends ago and were baffled by the large number of uninhabited trailers around us. Thanks for clearing this up.

Warmest Regards
Sharon & Winston

for winter storage purposes their is a camp ground up by High Point, NJ called Pleasant Acres (http://www.pleasantacres.com/) - $1.50/day in their storage lot. Shouldn't be more that 1 1/2 hours from the City.

When you get a chance next season be sure to check out Jersey Shore Haven Airstream Park down by Sea Isle City, NJ - 2 1/2 hours from NYC. ping me if you need more info about the place.
