Any problems with 212 east to Deadwood and reconnecting with I 90

On the way west I followed I 90 from Rapid City west. On the way home, Google is suggesting to depart I90 at 212 then reconnect Whitewood SD. Anyone have any reasons I should not try that route?

212 is a great road with lots less traffic at least in SD. Just drove from Faith, SD east two weeks ago, turned south just before Eagle Butte. Smooth sailing. If you need a stop the town park at Faith is pretty nice.

Why don't you stay on 212 and keep going east? 212 will get you back to at least Minneapolis.

Thanks for your reply. I would love to stay off of I90 but I'm on a bit of a marathon run from MT to Detroit. I'll get a four hour head start later today, just going from the Madison River area to Billings tonight. That should make the next three days a bit easier. When looking at mapping alts for the way back, it looked like 212 was a straighter shot than i90. But from Rapid City back to Michigan, I 90 is the best solution considering my limited time to get back.
On the interstate I do 68. I'm guessing 212 will be 60 to 65 max?

Speed limit will be 65 with sections that are 70. So your 68 will be fine. Enjoy the scenery.
