Antelope Island, Great Salt Lake Utah

I recently travelled to Salt Lake City Utah from Montana to purchase an Airstream 22 fb sport. My wife and I had rented and fell in love with a 16’ Bambi on a trip to southern Utah and on the way home we stopped at Airstream of Utah to look at a used 22. We ended up not getting that one but they sharpened the pencil and we made a good deal on a 2019 Airstream 22 fb. Long story short I got up early and left for Utah @4 am from Montana and made it into town by 1pm. I was on my way to camp at Antelope Island by 3.

I discovered Antelope by doing a search for campgrounds and Rv parks near the Salt Lake City dealer. I was originally going to stay at a KOA in Salt Lake City but I soon found Antelope Island, and I’m glad I did what a treat. Also, an amazing way to break in the new Airstream.

Chronological pics of the trip.

5am first mountain pass complete with snow, I had the airstream purchase at the forefront of my mind, I was about to be an owner

Sunrise over the Big Hole Montana, spectacular.

Pulling out of Air Stream Of Utah headed to Antelope Island, I believe it’s the largest island in the Great Salt Lake.

The campsite didn’t disappoint

Other islands off in the distance of the Great Salt Lake

Bambi in her natural environment

Killer sunset

Followed by an amazing sunrise

Packed up and headed home, quick trip, gotta beat a snowstorm bearing down on Montana

Lots of bison on antelope

I was there a couple days ago it’s a pretty cool place. I heard now was the time to visit because the bugs are unbearable in the summer and when the brine shrimp die I guess the water turns pink, and it smells quite ripe hahaha

Yeah, it’s a cool place. Very weird in the summer with all the flies, and I wouldn’t go in the water.

Congratulations on your 22 Sport! Welcome to all things Airstream.

Thanks to all for the great photos of Antelope Island and the warning about when not to go.
