Another Fly in the Ointment

There sure seem to be a lot of FLYs around the AIRforums. Or, maybe it goes without saying that there'll be lots of FLYs in the AIR.

In looking at the Members List I see everything from yours truly, flyfisher, to FlyBoy to FlyMom to flyguy to flywhoaman. And, of course there's FishByFly, and many, many more in between.

Anyway, I haven't been hanging around here much lately, so I didn't know whether this has already been reported, but when I picked up my new, winter issue of "Trout" magazine, I saw something that will be of interest to all of us "FLYs", and probably a number of others.

Trout Unlimited's new television series is set to start airing in April on the Outdoor Channel with host Frank Smethurst traveling the country with his trout patterned Airstream in tow, talking and fishing with TU staff and volunteers at 15 project sites.

There's a picture of Smethurst with his Trout Unlimited Airsteam in the magazine.

In answer to questions here's what he was quoted as saying.

"When you tow a trailer, it's one thing. When you tow an Airstream, it's a piece of Americana. People are very curious and excited about what we're doing."

"It's (the Airstream) become our bastion of sanity. But it's all about the RV parks. If I don't have a good shower and shave in the morning, and then go out and film a show, we'll just be frightning America."

I doubt he'll be scaring many of us FLYs away though, and might even attract a few more flywannabees with Airstreams to his show.

John

p.s. "flywannabee" hasn't been taken yet, has it?

Let's keep this Fly thread open awhile. Never know when you might want to trout one id-eel or another rather than just floundering about without porpoise.

Well, at least this thread is all about clean water, unlike that thread "Interesting Craigslist Finds". I've heard tell that some ads on there are for immoral porpoises.

I guess there could be a FlyMeToTheMoon, but that's probably too Spaced Out.

Hey, Flyfisher, I thought you sold your Airstream? Not that you need it for flyfishing or this forum .
