When I was bringing my AS home a few weeks ago, I saw an AS sitting at a campground, a good 100 yards from the road. I honked and waved as if they were looking out their window at that exact point in time to see my AS and wave back lol. My girlfriend looked at me as if I was crazy so I had to explain this thread to her lol

We always flash traffic permitting...always fun to recognize that beautiful silhouette. Course my dark side starts immediately second guessing the TV when it looks "dubious" but comparing rigs to some of the fifth wheel TV's you see they seem more appropriate than most. After all, if you had the good judgement to buy an AS that must say something positive about you, right?

We've been on the (slow) road for a week & haven't seen any Airstreams. We started in GA & are west of OK City heading to Mesa Verda & the Ballon Festa. Where are you Airstreamers???

Someone heading south on I-25 flashed me yesterday as I was heading north between Socorro and Belen.
I acknowledged by hitting the wrong lever and turning on my windshield wipers.

We're at home now, but when on the road enjoy spotting AS's and usually report in this thread http://www.airforums.com/forums/f48/...ngs-13707.html

We're new owners (only since May) so maybe we're still excited, but it sure seems AS owners have a sense of community that you sure don't see in the SOB crowd (how would you? "Look - a Coachman... no, maybe a Dutchman?") If safe, we have see in time, we flash and wave, and if we see one in a campground, we at least try to say hi. SoftTouch - our next trip is in early October from here to the Durango area to meet up with my wife's parents. We may not get as far south as ABQ and the balloons, but if we see you, or anyone else, around Mesa Verde we'll flash and wave!

That makes me feel better - now I know I'm not the only one .....

My wife particularly loves it when I not only turn the wipers on by mistabke - but also the windshield washers ......

..... nothing like hysterical laughter to really liven up an otherwise boring drive ......

We just spotted our 1st, after 1300 miles. They were stopped & viewing Cadilac Ranch just W of Amarillo as we were speeding west. We honked and got a big wave hello.

Like TBRich said, we wave and flash the lights whenever we see one - in time, that is. So don't count us rude if we miss ya - sometimes driving the Colorado passes takes our attention off the "other" lane...we have an alert we both use no matter who sees the AS first: "Airstream!!" Should I blink first or shout first? Ah, the etiquette of Airstreaming...

I liked that one. Sounds like something I would do!

Quite a number of sightings today

I saw 3 pretty new AS today. There must have been a fire sale somewhere, cause they looked primo. Checked to see if there were a rally close by, but there isn't.

Airstreams in Hub City and other shiny things on wheels

When I was a kid in the 60's up in Northern BC Canada (Prince George) we would always see a line of Airstreams passing through town. It was a town that had all major highways running through it ( Prince George aka Hub City, Spruce city, Centre City).
Anyway My sister had to drive up there recently and she said she passed 5 airstreams in a row. Some things never change. But then it is how you get to the Alaska Highway and many Airstream trips head that way.

Here are a couple of vintage aluminum trailers. I know they are not Airstreams but I tend to take pictures of shiny things.
First one is a BOLES AREO in Centralia WA. The Second of course is a Spartan, it is in Olympia WA.

I jumped in my sons Volvo one time to just move it and went to put it in reverse and broke that wiper arm clean off. Good thing he is a Volvo mechanic. Sal.

Just got passed by an Excella a lot like ours on I-40 eastbound just about 30 miles west of Oklahoma City! I was waving so excitedly I forgot to take a photo! We travel 65 mph, and it's a bit faster- so they're pulling ahead.

We're newbies here and don't yet own an Airstream but getting ready to buy. Anyway, we need a little clarification:

By "flash" do you mean your headlights or your privates?

We just want to make sure we're doing the appropriate kind of "flashing"
