Question Albuquerque to Santa Barbara

I will be traveling from Albuquerque to Santa Barbara the end of June for a couple of weeks of camping along the coast from El Capitan (Refugio was already booked on the 1st day of registration) to Pismo and Big Sur. I previously lived in Ventura and have made the trip many times, but never with my newly purchased airstream. I have driven direct to Santa Barbara or will sometimes either stop in Flagstaff or near the AZ/CA border.
With the 67 Overlander I will be traveling slower (60-65MPH) and probably do the trip in two overnites. I could hit Flagstaff easy enough in just a few hours, even after work. The question then is where to stay the next night? If I stay in the desert I will probably want hookups so I can run the AC. If I get to the mountains, boondocking would be ok. I could break up the drive differently. Any suggestions for the weekend before July 4th?

If you wanted to push past Flagstaff a bit, you could stay in Williams your first night.
Tehachapi is at 4000 feet and would be a little cooler if you stayed your second night there, then you could get up and cruise on in to the coast in about 3 hours.

The Railroad RV park is nice in Williams. Tamara is the person in the office who takes your calls and she loves the Airstream community. Don't forget that the Laughlin hotels are cheaper than RV parks Sun-Thur.

laughlin

Thanks for the note about the RR RV. I will be traveling through on Fri or Sat, so Laughlin doesn't do me much good.

This is up near Bakersfield right? What route do you take to the coast from there? I normally come down the I-15 to Victorville and across north of the Angeles NF so I can drop in on the 126 into Santa Paula and then on to Ventura.
Does anyone have recommendations in the Angeles or San Bernadino for Boondocking maybe Sunday night not too far off I15?
