To many answers without more info. Are you looking for side trips/different views? Or are you looking for strait line easy?
I think my route for a fun trip would be over to Flagstaff and then up into Utah via Page Arizona. Once on I15 go north until mile marker 174 in Holden and get off and go west on US 50 to Ely.
From Ely I would go north to I80 and west to Winnemucca. You could follow US50 to Fallon NV and then north to I80, and that trip is a way to go, and it'll add an extra day to your trip, and it is very boring.
From Winnemucca think I would go north on US95 then northwest on Oregon 78 until US20, into Bend.
If you decide to go across US50 to Fallon, I would continue into California and take US395 north from Reno until you reach US 20 in Oregon and then west into Bend.
50 can be really barren though. If something goes it'll cost more to get it repaired.......
