I tried to edit my original, but time limit expired. Below is my completed narrative.
I hope this is a thread for anyone's road trips, not just Gene's.
Anyway, got underway from Monterey on 15 Jun for the 1350mi trip to Pueblo, CO to visit my girl. GPS said it would take at least 21hrs. I did it in about 25, avg'd almost 13mpg, sticking to about 62-65mph. Stopped 2hrs overnight at a rest stop somewhere in Utah. I'll need to visit Utah again soon, as I-70 was pretty scenic, so I can't imagine how nice it is out off the beaten path.
Colorado is amazing, visited Pikes Peak, Garden of the Gods, and Bishop's Castle (ole' Jim was even in full on rant mode, quite the experience) so far. Went and did some fishing in San Isabel National Forest and spent the night at La Vista Campground. Nice campground, great views on the lake, and has 30amp electric but no water, so make sure the FW tank is topped off prior to getting there.
Intend to do some more camping in the coming week, but not sure where yet.
