airstream width

Hello, we are new to the community. First question regards the width restriction in states like Arizona, New Mexico, and Louisianna. Are these restrictions strictly enforced on Airstreams? Only off interstates? Etc.

What width restrictions? We have pulled an Airstream through all those states routinely for the past 7 years, in AZ now, NM and LA next month.

The only width restrictions are the roads themselves. Many older secondary, rural roads seem awfully narrow when you are pulling a trailer and meet another truck or trailer in the oncoming lane. Some drivers tend to hug the yellow line or even drift over. This can feel very tight when there is no shoulder and a cliff or drop-off on your side. Best to learn your sweet spot with the trailer hugging the right side white line.

Hi from AZ. . . width restrictions ? ? ? We live in AZ, travel thru-out the West (Alaska & back last year), haven't seen any width restrictions. My new to me rolling man cave (Safari Sport 17) is only 7'3" wide, noticeable difference, but we're very used to the FC28 width............welcome aboard, & come to a 4CU rally sometime, they are fun !. . . regards,Craig

The only width restriction we have ever encountered is the tunnel leaving Zion to the west. I think it is Hwy 9. There, if you are over a certain width they charge a fee to close traffic and escort you through the tunnel due to the height and width of the tunnel. At least it was that way several years ago. We did not have to pay for our Caravel, but were escorted any way. Go figure.
