Airstream to Savannah, GA
We're planning our first long trip in our Airstream, to Savannah, GA. Any suggestions regarding the best places to stay there? Thanks! Going the end of May.

HIstoric Savannah
We are just across the Savannah river in SC. A good place is on Tybee Island. Beach houses, a good seafood shack. Hard to get a reservation, but near the beach. Also, there is Skidaway Island State Park on the south side. Savannah is a wonderful place. Since it is close, we visit often.

Skidaway Island State Park
We stayed at Skidaway Island several years ago. It's a nice campground and is convenient to Savannah. We were there in October and mosquitoes were a big problem, so be prepared. If you like a State Park feeling, which we do, then you will enjoy this campground. If you are more into resort type camping, you may be disappointed. We really enjoyed our trip to Savannah. It is a beautiful city.

Skidaway is indeed a great spot. We are considering for our upcoming trip to Fla., Edisto Beach State Park in SC, about halfway between Savannah and Charleston to enjoy both locations.
Best,

Anywhere on Tybee Island!
It is about 20 minutes from Savannah.

Savannah and Charleston are both great day trips. We've done both from Edisto.
The city of Tybee owns and operates a campground. We stayed there Oct. 2007 for 3 days. It is OK for a base camp.

I go to Tybee Island a lot, but don't like the campground on the island. I would suggest Skid-A-Way. But you do need to go to Tybee, especially The Crab Shack...and AJ's....and The Breakfast Club (Be prepared to stand in line or go early in the am. They close at noon but the food is delish!)
I'll be down that way at the end of May. Have fun!

Thanks for the info so far folks! I did some searching on the internet and found a privately owned campground in Savannah named Biltmore. Anyone have any experience with that campground?
Thanks,
Steven
