As we're preparing to drive to Alaska in a few months with our pets (1 dog and 2 cats), we have proof of their recent rabies shots, but the Milestone said you also need a 'clean bill of health' certificate from the vet for each pet, within 30 days of crossing the border. Of course, we're planning on taking about 2 months to get from Austin, TX to the Canadian border so, if needed, we'll need to stop by a vet somewhere closer to Canada, within 30 days of crossing the border.
Has anyone ever been asked to show this 30 day certificate? The Milestone is the only place I read about something like this.

I am assuming you mean the Milepost, anyway we have never been asked by Canadian customs but we always take the 'kids' to the vet before crossing over. I think we were asked once by US Customs upon reentry. We just make an appointment with a local vet and pay the piper. There are lots of discussion on this subject the Alaska Canada forum on RV.net.

I love RV Roadtrip navigator, the computer program. It helps so much with planning the day drives and giving phone numbers etc. One of the big things if you are using private campgrounds in Alaska, is the turn over in ownership and operation. It might be open one week, closed the next and owned by someone new the next. If you make reservations, double check etc.
even on the caravan, they had campgrounds come and go within the time between departure and stops (two months or so). Found out one campground changed ownership, did not transfer the reservations (for 38 units) and we would not have known except one of the group stopped on the way up and said see you in a couple of months, and they asked if they had reservations, and found out the group was not listed. It got fixed in time, but it is a land of change and economic edge survival.

We were asked for Rabies proof for our two cats one of the crossings. (If you travel down the neck, you will cross quite often, so be prepared). Bigger questions asked on guns and fruit issues.

Re tires: We haven't been to Alaska (yet) but we traveled more than 9,000 miles last spring/summer from Florida to California, all through the Pacific Northwest, and in the Colorado high country before returning back to Florida. I put a brand new set of Pirelli Scorpion light truck tires on the trailer before we left and they were great - no flats, and only very slight variations in tire pressure due to high elevation (8-10,000 ft.) - plus they show hardly any wear. I'd highly recommend them.
