Airstream Ranch -- Art or Trash?

Last week my wife and I visited the controversial Airstream Ranch display in Florida. I thought it was fun... but haven't seen it discussed here. Any thoughts on it?

sorry, missed that thread (that's what I get for posting from my cell phone).

I think it needs a little landscaping TLC, but is a lot of fun. It certainly beats a lot of what one sees alongside the Florida interstate!

Art

Since most of the Airstreams were damaged , I think that it is art....

No matter what condition, or where they are, Airstream's are art. Some are just luckier than others to be rescued and loved.

I like it, but I understand that the county has ordered it removed.

I forgot to ask Frank.....

but rumor has it that there are period correct tow vehicles connected to the front end of these trailers..

Hey Frank, put a flag of the US on top of each of them and call them Fancy Flag pole holders. Ya think they'll make you take down the US flag?

Great talking to you the other night...

Rob

Thats a good idea Rob, But I still dont get it, who has the right to say something isnt art? What give the county the right, not only that, they have a good case with the Art Councils saying that it is art, I saw it 2 weeks ago when I was at the Fun N Sun Airshow and I thought it was the coolest thing ever!

While I agree that using 7.5 Airstreams buried ala Cadillac slim in Amarillo seems a waste of Aluminum, I ponder the use of the word "art" for it.

What if a neighbor, slightly organic from years of, uh... mushroom & alcohol abuse, decides that the '72 Pinto on block with an old refrigerator & sofa out front of the 'ol homestead was "art"... well, heck, let's just make that a Pinto AND a Chevy Astrovan...

How do we "embrace" his art?

I lean more towards embracing "marketing" in this instance.

I'm OK with it out in the boonies as long as it doesn't distract from what locals require of their "ambiance".
