Absolute favorite campground or camping spot

Being new to camping, I am curious. If you could only name one place, what is your favorite campground or camping spot?

Asking me that is like asking Tiger Woods who his favorite girlfriend is: to many good choices. They are all my favorite

Best all round I guess is my boondocking spot in the Jemez Mnts: Great view, close to great fishing, hot springs, hiking, bike riding. Love it.

It's a tough one, because we've been to many places that I love. I guess, if pushed, that it would have to be someplace in northern Arizona or southern Utah, but that area is just today's thought. In a decade or so, I'll probably change my mind.

There are really beautiful campgrounds out west that we really like, but in the southeast, we like Elkmont Campground in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park near Gatlinburg, Tennessee. On the river, of course. And June is the time to see the synchronized fireflies. That is the one, but there are a couple of others we really like too - Fort Desoto County Park in St Petersburg, Florida and Vogel State Park near Blairsville, Georgia.

Long Hollow in Center Hill, TN. Absolute fave. Stay on the river, canoe and trout fish. 2nd fave is McKinney in Cartersville, GA on the Allatoona Lake.

Signal Mountain, Fort Wilderness, and boondocking on the north rim in no particular order. All totally different and all my favorites depending on my mood.

While I usually boondock, my favorite campground is Dead Horse State Park outside of Moab, Utah. Dead Horse Point State Park | Utah State Parks. My favorite boondock sites shall remain nameless.

It really depends on your mood

Sometimes I want to be alone, no vehicles in sight, no buildings. Just trees, flowers, and big dirt. Maybe the sound of water. For that, you should try BLM land in the Southwest. Explore, find, melt in.

But when I want to be around people, I like to go to music festivals.
Crowded by friends, and friends of friends. Or friends I don't know yet.
At music festvals, I always run into people I know, or meet some nice people, and then see them again at another festival. That is something that I don't get at campgrounds as much. Try a bluegrass festival. Lots of
interactive interactions.

Most anywhere along the coasts - there's just something hypnotizing about the ever changing sound of the ocean...with the sand to wiggle you toes in...

There's several great, warm, clear water sites over on the BIG ISLAND of Hawaii, but it's a long drive...

30 Mile state campground between Creede and Lake City Co. Beautiful part of Colorado, great fishing, hiking and relaxing by the river! Road in is a bit bumpy so I take it real slow. Well worth the effort!

I like the mountains, and I like the beach, so I'll give my favorite for each, both in California.

Beach:

Refugio S.B just north of Santa Barbara. It's a well protected cove with a great beach, palms, a point break for surfing/ butt surfing (Kayak surfing) if there is a swell.

Mountains:

There a meadow on private land near Loon Lake off HWY 50 east of Placerville that we sometimes go to, boondocking. Quiet, secluded, about 5 miles from the lake which is great for kayaking and fishing.

Whatcha mean Rodney? Ask anybody up here about the best fishing and the answer is always the same -- Mum Lake.

I've got quite a few favorites and some are quite conditional as to season or time of week -- hard for someone to research this thread and say, "I'll go there on vacation too." But my favorite yet is still 'out there.' I like this thread anyway!
