Promised Land State Park PA, Lower Lake. No mosquito no horse file's no black file's. Very clean with full facilities. Upper Lake renovated camp site scheduled to be open this summer. Upper Lake has a very nice beach. Nature trails galore. We have enjoyed Acadia but it is bit far for us. "Boatdoc"

Our two favorite places (so far) are Nehalem Bay State Park on the Oregon Coast, and boondocking on Mt. Hood an hour or two away from Portland.

Google Map Project

I have started to enter peoples favorites into a Google map. Anyone can edit it. You can add a site, edit the entry and so forth. Some that were named are not on it. Usually this is because a place was named rather than an identifiable campground or I couldn't find the campground without a lot of searching. By all means, feel free to go to the map and add them!

If people share the places they love, then when any of us are planing a trip we can find great places to camp that we didn't know about. If people are interested and think this would be helpful to them I will try and keep it up to date.

You are very welcome. I admit, there is a selfish motive for doing this-but why not share. I am hoping that over time people will update with fees and things to do in the area.
I will probably make a special icons for private vs public spots and one for boondocking spots at some point.

Cheers,

On the way up to Acadia, try Camden Hills State Park. Plenty of hiking trails and great vistas of the Maine coast. Located at the foot of Mt. Battie. A great jumping off place to see some of the beautiful mid-coast area of Maine. Camden is a flat out gorgeous town and harbor, but gets crowded in the peak summer months of July and August. Grab a beer and a lobsta roll on the upper deck of the Camden Deli. Great kayaking all over the area.

Algonquin National Forest in NE Ontario, Canada. In the lower Canadian mountain range. Lakes, streams, rocky outcroppings, simply phenominal.

That map is very cool. I didn't know that was a feature of Google Maps.

I added Camp Hatteras.

Thanks for adding! I just found the map stuff a couple weeks ago. I am using it on another map to plan out potential places to go this summer. Being able to add notes is very helpful.

Devils Garden, Arches NP. I've yet to find a place that brings about the peace of mind I find there.
