Surely the '2019 Sprinter will have TPMS from the factory?

My '2012 Avenue on the '2011 Chevy Express chassis has factory tire pressure monitors just like today's cars. One press of a button shows Left/Right front pressure, a second press shows Left/Right rear pressure. A Sprinter system would need to consider the dual rear wheels, but seriously is way over due.

Is that with screw on sensors or inside the tire?

EEZ Tire

I'm sure most will do the job though.

For storage I did remove them and also removed the batteries from the monitors.

We have been using the original Pressure Pros TPMs on our Bambi for 10 years (and have replaced the sensors once). I would not tow without monitors — especially with a single axle. The brand is not so important. They have given us advance warning of trouble at least 3 times ... once when we had a rubber stem failed (now have metal stems), one for a screw we picked up on the Interstate, and another time for a screw. In all cases had we continued unaware, the tire would have been ruined, and if it shredded, the wheel well (and probably the skin) would be damaged. Well worth the expense. Get them.

A voté for tire monitors

TST...very helpful service and I echo the above comment re loving the temp alert...out west, road temp can be murderous.
Have any of you used Good Sam Travel Assist for a flat? Results?

I have to second this. In my opinion TPMS on trailer tires is a good idea. On either a tandem or a single, I would want to know if a tire is going south in time to find a safe place to pull over to address the problem. Without the early warning from a TPMS you might discover you have a tire failing at an inopportune moment. It's not good with either type, but I would think this to be especially true for a Bambi.

Original Pressure Pro since 2006. Only one made in the US and saved my butt twice. Once on Airstream and another time on TV. They hold the US patent. If you're ever in the Kansas City area, you can visit them and see all the cool stuff they do with TPMS. RVs is not the only TPMS system they make.

Flow Thru TPMS

We have a Pressure Pro with screw on caps. We are starting to have reception problems and want to replace the system with a new one. Has anyone used the TST with flow-thru caps? We just replaced our tires (after a blow-out) with tires and steel stems and were thinking of getting the flow-thru caps. just wondering how folks like them compared to the screw-on caps. Thanks!

A disaster-in-the-making. I believe the max tire temp is 158˚. Good to hear you caught the problem before it became worse. Matt

Up until recently folks have traveled the highways without a TPMS. But now that the technology is available to us I see it as another useful "cockpit resource management" tool. It's not always perfect technology and things can still happen, but.... Besides, a blowout is costly, particularly if the blown rubber rips off necessary undercarriage wiring/plumbing (which it's likely to do) that is required for normal coach operation. Not to mention blowouts usually happen at the most inconvenient time and inconvenient locations. As for the Bambi singe axle: I think it's even more necessary to use such technology. If you're able to detect low tire pressure while driving call that luck. The likely scenario is a fast, high pressure blow out that you wouldn't be able to predict while driving 55+mph. It's likely to catch you by surprise. And a blow out on a single axle is less convenient than one on a double. Cheers and safe Airstreaming - Matt

I have had the TST with flow-thru-caps for over three years on our previous 25' Serenity and now moved to the Classic 30. No reception problems and one set of batteries changed last year. When I ordered the TST I was concerned about reception and they shipped it with an extender antenna which I have not needed.

Been running TST system for over 4 years now. I truly love their customer service. If you should have a question or problem , they will bend over backwards to answer your questions or solve your problem. I wish more companies had that good of customer service.

A Vote For Tire Monitors

I'm curious, how many people are monitoring their truck tires as well as the trailers?

My truck tire monitors are built in. (I believe it's a federal requirement in late-model vehicles.)

I like the TPMS because I AM risk averse enough to check the tire pressures every day but I am ALSO LAZY enough to skip it. The TPMS cures the battle between these two sides of my personality.

Built into the Range Rover tire system.

Thewarden and others, Ok, so that was about to be my question. Will a TPMS be effective in notifying one of potential separation? I was pulling my 1962 19' GT down curvy, 6% downgrade, Hwy 87 from Payson, AZ to Phoenix. Air temp was about 95. I felt and heard bumping as trailer drove over the tread. Wasn't sure it was my tire as it didn't lose air pressure. Gave me a few minutes to find a safer spot to pull over. I.e a shoulder wide enough and NOT around a blind curve. Sure enough it was my tire, still holding air. So...question: would a TPMS have alerted me? If so, by temp reading or?? Thanks. I am ordering one ASAP, just want to know if I need one that has a particular feature for this in future. BTW, I replaced both tires. And, yes, I know I was very lucky! Thanks.

Just picked up a Bellacorp TPMS for our 28' Safari SO. Gonna put it through the ropes this next weekend. Was considerably less than the TST and EEZ models but still from a reputable dealer. Bellacorp markets them mostly to the high-end horse trailer owners.

I'm cheap and low-tech

I love the idea of TPMS on my trailer, but I'm kinda cheap, so I went low tech -

https://amzn.to/2Md8nbD

There's many different brands of these, they run about $15-$20 per set, and they're an easy visual indicator that things are doing ok. I'm a huge fan of the walk-around at stops to make sure everything's still good on my rig, however, and these make it quick and painless.

The downside is that quality is often all over the board with these, and you have to watch that they're not leaking (either from bad manufacturing, loose caps, or rock strikes along the road).

Anyone using Tire Minder? I like the idea of using a phone app.
