Was our first long trip in her. She pulled beautifully. Had some 40 mph headwinds into Casper on the way up. I25 thru Wyoming after travel season can be a lonely place. Passed many average TT's either 5th wheels or bumper pulls on the way up and back. The KOA in Casper is just basically a parking lot with full hookups, but the staff and those camping there were great! Drove thru the smoke from the big fire there on the way back for most of 50 miles. Hope that they have it under control by now.

We also stayed there last fall on the return leg of our trip to Alaska. Besides the beauty of the place (gotta be one of the most photograhed spots in the world) there were two other things that remain a strong memory.

One was our lunch on the terrace restaurant of the hotel - it was one of those absolutely perfect fall days - very sunny, still and warm - with Lake Louise directly in front of us the setting couldn't possibly have been any better. I had two reindeer sausages and my wife had fish/chips - simple menu choices but one of the most memorable meals we have ever enjoyed .....

The other memory is the lower staircase inside the hotel - looked like a scene right out of "The Shining" ...... just had to take a picture ...... and then go search out the main staircase ....... quickly came to the conclusion that if there was a place to host a sequel to that movie ..... the Fairmont Lake Louise Hotel would be it ......

Quite a place.

We RVed there a couple of weeks ago, just before Labour Day. Banff NP is part of an inter-connected suite of parks: Yoho, Kootenay, and Columbia Icefields en route to Jasper. I think it is a better place to see glaciers than Glacier NP in Montana, although the glaciers are retreating in Canada, as well.

The Lake Louise campground is huge, with electrical hookups. Most sites are wide, double pull-through sites. The RV cg was full one night, but had available sites the other 3 nights we were there. There is a small "village" nearby, with most services you could need.

The Lake Louise area itself was super-crowded-- kind of like Old Faithful at Yellowstone, if you know what that's like. Ditto for the path from the hotel up to the tea room. Fortunately dogs are allowed on trails in Canadian national parks. Although the Columbia glacier is posted, lots of people were walking around on it.

Fortunately there are places just as beautiful in that area with less congestion: Bow Lake and Emerald Lake for starters. But the grand old chateau at Lake Louise is worth a visit for people who like their wilderness with a touch of elegance!

Lake Louise is one of our favorite places - wonderful memories! I loved your first picture (above) -- with that other AS in the background it looks like a mini-rally!

We actually saw more in Banff and Jasper NP's than we did anywhere else. We stayed at Koa's all the way up. Limon Co, Casper Wy. Great Falls Mt. (best KOA!!!) At each of these we were the only AS in the camp.
