A Road Less Traveled...

Well... a good first day of Airstreaming, nice weather and a beautiful location at Alpine Jct. The road here is not less traveled much of the year but we have beat the summer crowds - tourism season hasn’t quite started yet.

I enjoy the pace of life out on the road - slept in, cooked breakfast, went for a horseback ride, now afternoon coffee. Next, dinner and a beer at Melvin’s Brewery in Alpine. One could get used to this vs. the “rat race” pace of life. Many of you are smart and have already figured that out... perhaps someday.

Recommend the Rockin ‘M if you want a horse ride when you visit this area. Sits on the Salt River and we then rode into nearby forest - nice people, nice setup, nice views.

(p.s. fortunately, no AS trials and tribulations - nothing broken, no tinkering, everything behaving properly. Not even worried about more upgrades - she’s a nice unit as-is.)

Thanks, Maggie... dumb luck and digital cameras help. I was riding horseback and moving at the time, but the beauty of the landscape helps immensely. That’s my wife Holly and youngest child Alyssa on the back pair of horses. Hope you are feeling better.

...led us to Sheridan, Oregon where we met-up with an old friend we had lost contact with 25 years ago. Our AS travels to Salem took us through Burley, Idaho which got us looking for this old friend. We found him this week outside Sheridan, Oregon where he has taken his hobby (back then) and passion and become a very accomplished winemaker at his very own vineyard. First-rate wines, IMO, worth a stop if you find yourself in the McMinnville AVA in the Willamette Valley.

Nice to find old friends, but especially those who truly have found their special place. Truly a highlight of our trip.

...haven’t posted lately but it’s soon time for a week off and travel to some new places, this time north to Montana. Off soon to Dillon and a side trip to Bannack, the first Territorial Capital of the state. Hope to share a photo or two from our upcoming visit to Big Sky Country... in the meantime, home in SLC for final preparations (cleaned, waxed and shiny.)

Regards - Ron
