Likewise, Maggie. I enjoy reading of others travels, trailers, triumphs and tribulations. Hope to contribute to this community, and in time (as in more free time), participate more.

Need to check out Pine Lake campground next time we are in the area. We always stay at Kodachrome Basin SP. All places in Utah are amazing!

Is the road to the campground paved or gravel? Some gravel roads in this area are nicely graded, but still rattling quite a bit...

You take Johns Valley Road north from Bryce Canyon City about 12-15 miles (paved), then 7 miles of gravel road to the Pine Lake campground. It was only slightly washboard in 3-4 areas, nothing we couldn't handle by slowing down. I recommend it for those who like dry camping, pretty much typical USFS fare but very pretty. Only half full all weekend as this campground does not seem to appear on many review sites.

Most spots can be reserved online. Recommend the ones up on the loop at the back of the campground (pretty views.)

Regards - Ron

Beautiful scenery! I have a coffee pot just like that in my AS! Best part of the morning.

A Road Less Traveled...

Plan to get back on the road less traveled later next week with stops at Burrville, Koosharem Cafe, Fish Lake Lodge, and finally Bowery Creek campground. Family ranch house in the area (shown below) will ultimately be home to the AS but not until I can get something to protect it from the indigenous deer, cows, rabbits, turkeys, mice, skunks, bats, cats, elk, planes, trains, and automobiles. Nice to have the AS forward-deployed near some of our favorite family places, but this will require care to protect her there.

Thanks, Maggie - it's in the small town of Burrville in Grass Valley, around 7000' elevation. The original part of the house was built in the late 1880's, but when my in-laws bought it in 1985 it was inhabited only by skunks, mice and bats (very yuck.) We gutted the place, working every weekend for an entire summer to get the place inhabitable, really not all that much different than some vintage AS restorations (but no riveting). Cooler and a nice change of pace from city life up there. Need to plan an AS shed that 'fits' the look of the house and property.

Yes, a shed that fits in.

Earlier this year I had the opportunity to step inside a house in southern MS built by my 3rd great grandfather.....200+ years old, much of it original.

A near-spiritual experience.

There is something about really old that comes through your pores....you can almost feel the lives of those that came before.

Lucky you.

Wonderful thread & info. However, I'm wondering why I'm not receiving the later pic(s). Perhaps the site is having problems again, but others have remarked about seeing the pic(s).

Yeah... God willing, we are back on the Road Less Traveled come this weekend. It's been on/off in the past few days, but it appears I can actually take a week off this summer (minus traveling back into coverage for a couple of conference calls.) Not complaining... just glad I can extricate myself from the Rat Race for most of a week.

Pictures to follow... beautiful country here.

Regards - Ron

Nice, after leaving home and nearly 100 degree temps, we arrived at Singletree CG last evening to 60 degrees. Nice shaded spot with Singletree Creek running through it. Hiked this morning to the falls not far below. Nice thunder and hail (just pea-size) storm this afternoon.

Getting close to wine-thirty now...
