A good reason to tow an Airstream product...

I just got back from a 3 day/2 night business trip to Ft Belvoir, VA. I stayed about 45 miles to the South at the KOA in Fredricksburg as Liz and I may be relocating to that area and I wanted to give it a look-see.

Anyway, on my return trip this afternoon, I was traveling in the far right lane heading North on I-95. Approaching the US-1 interchange at Beltsville, MD, I was about 100 yards behind a garbage truck. As we approached the exit ramp, the garbage truck slammed on his brakes and swerved to avoid cars exiting I-95. He went into a sideways skid that blocked 3 lanes of traffic. Luck was with me, at 65 MPH and with no real good options, I cut hard left and dove across 2 lanes to the far left and got around him without hitting anything or anyone. The Argosy stayed straight and true, and glued on my tail without showing ANY tendency to fishtail.

I'm convinced that if I had a white-box trailer hitched behind me, it would have flipped and made matter much worse.

Glad to hear you and your rig survived the evasive manuver in this emergency situation. Situations like this are what helped us decide to shop for and acquire and Airstream.

Nice job Bob! Maybe you should move to L.A. and get a job as a stunt driver!! I am glad you did well and nobody was injured, and as a secondary note I am glad the trailer door was saved.

Nice driving Bob! Actually, it made also if you have a special hitch that you use to pull your Airstream, or if you used a standard hitch. That's awesome that it remained stable! Glad your safe

There's just nothing like sitting out in the sun, drinking a margherita and lounging on my outdoor patio furniture.

That's a really impressive video! It makes me want to try it!

Okay okay, no, it doesn't... But it's nice to know the stability is there if you need it.

Yep, happened to me once at 70 MPH. My Airstream performed as advertised! Saved me, the wife, dogs and the Safari!

Great driving, most would have frozen up and plowed right into the garbage truck.
Glad to hear you're safe and demonstrated for Virginians the agility of an Airstream.
KUDO's to you.

I on the other hand probably would have clutched my chest and fainted. ;O)
