You did not say where the beaches were but I am guessing Northern Calif. into Oregon. If you are on the road keep going up the west coast all the way into BC (Got your passport?). That coastline is increditable. We live in northern Cal and have been to much of the west coast. Our coastal excursions were in the 60s and 70s but we are still finding great places to visit in the West and we must now return to some of the favorites of ours. Thanks for posting those pictures. We are getting the 'bug' again.
Neil.

I'm sorry Neil! The beach is black sands beach in Kings Range. Now i've been from 25 miles away from SF to the end of Oregon, That beach was my favorite by far. I talked to 12 ASers from Cal the other day, only one thought she had been there. When i come back to the west coast, i'll stay there for a week this time. 25 miles off of 101, there is a RV park about a mile away next to a lighthouse. The road has some grades with loads of switchbacks, the road isn't the best for sure either. We stayed in an RV park on 101, we didn't find the rv park near the beach till the day we were leaving. I have some real nice pics with my other camera, but way to many pixels.

The other on is Cape Arago, Sea Lion lookout. Beautiful views of hundreds of Sea lions.
