3 years later.. It will make its maiden voyage, join me in Southern Utah!.

Well.. Its been a little over 3 years since I purchased my 61 Globetrotter. Some of you may recall seeing some of my initial posts.. all I wanted was a new floor.. well, one thing led to another... that led to another, and before I knew it, the entire trailer was gutted.. Not recommended.. hope to not do that again. Anyway, I tried to keep the feel of its 61 vintage.. I feel I mostly succeeded. Its like an old house.. I dont think the word, "done" is ever appropriate. Well, its together, and the systems are working well.. and its time to use it!! So, tomorrow morning, my travel companion, Bernie... the coolest Airedale Terrier on the planet, and I will head out! We have not real plan.. Just gotta get out. I think we will start off in the San Rafeal Swell. From there, hwy 89 south, to the Coral Pink dunes, Lake Powell, Dirt Road back way into Kodachrome Basin and of coarse..my favorite, Hwy 12! Then east to Canyon lands and Moab... Wow, thats some Utah tour!! I should mention that I have 2 motorcycles coming along. I will have my CRF 450 on the rear receiver of the GT and my BMW GS in the back of the truck!! I will be easy to spot. If you are going to be in the area, hit me up! Especially if you have a bike! I will be posting on my moto sites to help find some riding buddies.. If you have a classic AS, hit me up!! Lets camp! I plan to stay far away from "full hook ups". I will try to post a pic in the morning.. For those of you trying to get your AS back together

We drove the road from the south, Rt. 89 through the desert to the Kodachrome area. We had a rental car and were tent camping. It was a great afternoon in the desert and we only saw one car passing by and we actually passed a tractor-trailer going the other direction. He had gotten to the first rough spot and got stuck turning around. A real adventure for him. For us it was just a nice afternoon in the desert for us. BUT, to my question, would you actually take an AS through there ????? I would do it again with my truck but don't think I'd do it with our AS. We stopped and had lunch in a grove of Cottonwoods along the way. A great side trip. I do plan to head to that area one of these days with the Airstream.

I envy you! That sounds like an Awesome trip especially with bikes to ride but I have to ask about a 250lb bike hanging off the back off your trailer. I always heard that was a big no no. Just wondering if you'd ever heard off that.

Sounds great! Its nice to be out camping verses working on the trailer you don't want to do it twice!!! We did a fix it up job the first time and a shell off last June. I dont recommend this.

May you have at least one sunny day, and a soft chair to sit in..
