Really enjoyable sharing your trip Birddog. Being a visual person the pics are great, worth a thousand words.
Truly beautiful country up that way.
Sounds like you found the cooler weather to your liking.

Again, nice photos. Thanks

Cheers Richard

There is a common bond among campers. I've motorcycle camped many nights over the years, and spent a fair amount of time on motorcycle websites. Many motorcycle campers speak with frustration over the slow RVs on the mountain roads, and "why do these people need all that stuff" type comments. I always reply it's different, but still camping. Many of us pulling our campers, are not in a big hurry, we are enjoying the trip just as much. Different types of camping both very enjoyable.
I'm enjoying this post BTW!

Hey you two if that's the worst that has happened you two are doing great. Stay positive and don't let those things get to you. Things break and they can be fixed. If you two are safe and Alive just keep enjoying your trip.
I have an old trailer and things break. Some friends of mine have new trailers and took a trip. When they came back they said nothing broke . They laughed ! They said we had nothing to talk about. So your message makes a great memory and you'll look back and laugh about it someday . Be safe and enjoy your trip.

I never leave the cutting boards on the sink when traveling. They ALWAYS bounce off!

stabilizers / kids

almost had a disaster this weekend, tasked my 14 yr old with raising the stabilizers ... well, he only raised the front ones. I didn't check and just before pulling out my older son happened to notice ... very close call ... shudder to think of the resulting damage ...

While we're on that topic...

All the dump stations I've used have a rubber hose with no connector on the end, hanging from up high on a spring loaded connection, when you pull on the hose, water comes out, so you can rinse out the slinky, etc.

How is anyone actually finding it possible to use the tank flush since you need a hose with a threaded coupler on the end. In a campground with full hookups, sure, I get it, hook up and flush before leaving. But what if no full hookups and using the dump station on the way out?

My Checklist

Please heed RCSoar's recommendation.
Here is my checklist that I created while on this trip. While travelling along, anytime I open the camper door, I go through the checklist.

Inside
  1. Pump Off
  2. Lights Off
  3. Faucets fixed (with rubber bands)
  4. Curtains and vent closed
  5. Toilet emptied (water will splach out) and lid down
  6. Water heater Off
  7. A/C control Off
Outside
  1. Stairs Up
  2. Stabilizers Up
  3. Front Jack Up
  4. Power Cord stowed and Power connector cap down
  5. Water hose stowed and water cap installed
  6. Trailer connector secure
  7. Truck mirrors extended
  8. Truck in "Tow Mode" (Allison transmission)
When a propane tank is getting empty, I check for green light every time I stop.

Gas buddy...works like a charm but we bought the least expensive diesel at Sam's Club. Mistake. Cheap is not always best. We were hunting fuel again entirely too soon.

I won't buy gas there anymore either. I have always heard all the gasoline comes out of the same few refineries, but I always get worse mileage with SAMs gas.. (Sorry, I know I'm off topic, but I couldn't help myself.)

Home Again

We made it home safely; had a great time. The checklist is the way to go and looking for diesel at 1/2 tank is what I did after the first day. I will have to find a better route from Scranton,PA to Maine. Rough roads in New Hampshire going up and busy toll roads on the way back.

Glad the rest of your trip went well. Your pics of the NE have inspired my wife and I to head that way. One of these days. I've ridden a motorcycle up through Maine, NY, and VT, but was in a big hurry. I'll be taking my time and seeing the sights next time.
Thanks

pcskier - We don't try to use the flush during a trip - we dump tanks normally as needed and also right before before heading home, then use the garden hose to use the black tank flush after we're home (by "we" I mean hubby).

It probably helps that our property has a big clear grassy field behind our house (drive right off driveway into the field) that we can drain onto, and there's little left to really clean out by then anyway - we do this after every trip, trailer is only couple months old & I've been adding soap etc. to black tank.

I use this when there is no thread on the water hose to flush the black tank:
https://www.amazon.com/Camco-22484-W.../dp/B000EDOSKG

I have to mention that last time I use it (2 weeks ago at Traverse City State Park) the water pressure caused the threaded end to pop off which resulted in me getting wet. The open end has not slipped off but I do grip it while while flushing my black tank.
