1st Outing, Ocean Lakes Myrtle Beach, SC
Greetings to all,
We had our first road trip with the Airstream at a very nice, unique campground, Ocean Lakes at Myrtle Beach SC. We could walk to the beach and saw 3 fantastic sunrises. I have never seen such a flurry of golf carts and it was not full yet. They have over 300 acres and I think almost 900 campsites and hundreds of summer homes, quite an eye opener for us, didn't grow up on the Ocean. There was 5-6 A/S's there during our Easter weekend outing with our neighbors and their 5th wheel. After using it over several weekends in the backyard, we had most of the systems figured out and fortunately no disasters and all went well. My better half saw a few nice ideas to start customizing our setup and we'll work on that over time. We have been tent campers and open fire cooking is a part of our idea of a great campout. We got several nice comments on the rig and got to peak into a really nice Excella, sharp rig!
Next trip is to a SC state Park.

Congrats on the Airstream. I hope you enjoy it as much as we do ours. Check out Myrtle Beach State Park on your next trip to Myrtle. We have stayed at Lakewood and Ocean Lakes and much prefer the state park. The sites are spacious, and only cost $23-$25 per night. They're about 300 yards from the beach, and have a nice pier. We stay in state or national parks most of the time, and South Carolina has some of the finest state parks.

SilverRanger,
Thanks for the info. Our next trips are Santee SP and Devils Fork SP, both in SC. We used the Ocean Lakes as a shake down cruise because our neighbors were going and it just worked for us. I think SP's will be our typical destination. But if you must have right now access to the Ocean and all the stuff that goes with the Ocean crowd, Ocean Lakes is set up to do just that.

If I am going resort camping in the Myrtle Beach area I normally stay up on the north end at Myrtle Beach Travel Park for state park camping in the same general area you have Myrtle Beach State Park or Huntington Beach State Park, both are are south of the Grand Strand.

Sunrises? What's that? Oh, yeah - I've seen them on TV.
Congrats on your new rig and the first of many glorious trips.

Sunrise, the orange thingy that so far has not failed us thankfully. This was the first time that I got to see it come up over the Ocean, kinda made it special when this flock of Pelicans came by like a freight train flying just feet over the water. Hoped to see the moon come up, but we missed that, next time.
Maybe some year it would be something to see the sun come up and then set with my feet in the same spot from a nice spot on top of the Rockies.
Darn, got to go to work tomorrow.
