10 Year Rule, Here's a Place....
Travelers Campground in Alachua, FL. I enquired about a monthly site. They asked me what I had. "A 31 foot Airstream", I replied. Eyebrows were raised. "What year is it?" she asked. "A 1972" I replied. She laughed at me and said they have a Ten Year Rule here. I laughed back and pointed to a unit out the window and told her mine looks 10 times better than that SOB sitting out there. She said that was not a monthly, just an overnight.
She said they might let me in, if the owner inspects and approves it. They look for missing parts, trim, etc.

You know, sad and unfair as it seems, in a way I do understand these rules. I have stayed in a park once where there were no restrictions, and unfortunately, with junky old SOB trailers often come undesirable people. Especially monthlies or permanents. First hand info here.
You should appreciate the offer for the owner to inspect your trailer before letting you in. That's almost like saying yes, and bending the rule for you.
Once you're in, this very rule will benefit you.

Yep I just had a similar experience in Lake Havasu City, AZ. I pulled in to stay overnight at an RV park. They asked what year my trailer was. I replied 1978. The person stated that any RV between 10-15 yrs would require inspection. Anything older was not allowed in the park. The person then asked me what brand the tt was. Once they found out that it was an airstream, they inspected it, allowed me to stay in the park and welcomed me back any time. Go figure that one out. They completely overlooked their 15 year rule as my trailer is now 25 years old.

I haven't encountered that rule yet, but I can see why someone might need a rule of some sort. Still I think it would be in the park's best interest to 'reserve the right to refuse service to anyone' which I'm sure they do, and just require inspections of older units. I would be pretty peeved if someone turned away my polished, restored, 35 year old trailer in favor of a 9 year old SOB just because of blind adherance to a rule.
In my opinion most of the trashy sites I've seen were obviously people who were staying someplace for some time, and the problem wasn't the age of the trailer, it was all the crap scattered around the site in addition to the trailer. We looked at a private campground in Ashland, OR for a weeklong stay, and opted for a nearby county park instead, because there were just too many trashy long-timers at the private park. I just didn't feel comfortable there.

When we had our 77 trailer and full timed we ran into the ten year rule on occasion. Were were normally able to convince them to look at it and if we looked to "trashy" then we would find another campground. We never got turned away once they saw the unit.
Not that I am advocating lying, but I would say unless the CG owner/operator know their stuff and you can get a full hook up site, you could tell them it was 8 years old and they would be hard pressed to prove you wrong!
We had a unit rally last weekend and had TT and MH from 1972-2003 parked together. My 78 Argosy and a polished 72 got the most attention from the rest of the campground. To top it all this was an Airstream Park!
