Watch the weather reports, we're in La Pine OR, just south of Bend, high 20's next few days, lows at night in single digits, keep to the coast.

That's kind of funny... when it's cold and dreary in Portland (and Salem) we like to visit our friend in Bend. Great town any time of the year. Lots of beauty, great restaurants, a nice change of scenery, drier and usually sunny. Not sure I want to winter there, but we do enjoy it any time of the year for a few days at a time.
If you stay on the west side of the Cascades there are plenty of hidden treasures not only on the Coast but on the scenic roadways that connect the Valley with Coast. Enjoy !

Columbia River - be careful you don't turn North and go to Canada
Redwoods in Northern CA - Avenue of the Giants - AS won't fit through tree
HW1 on CA coast - caution how you go
Crater Lake - Collier Memorial State Park
HW 395 to Death Valley
HW120 through Yosemite - caution how you go
Bet the locals have even more suggestions. Pat

I believe that is what the question was! Some of the answers may not be relevant, others right on.

Yes, we are looking for destinations or routes to hit after the International or later in July. We had planned to try Glacier NP. The challenge is securing reservations since most private parks are closed right now.
Please keep the ideas coming! Thanks.

We plan to head to Glacier also after the International Rally, after the 4th of July. I'm interested in hearing what others suggest too!

We haven’t made up our minds yet. It mainly depends on what some of our traveling partners want to do. Been thinking about going into Canada. Even given some thought to heading back up to Alaska. Although I would like to already be in Alaska. Leaving at that later date would cut the Alaska time shorter. But from the Middle Coast of Texas it’s a LONG way to Alaska , if we don’t go this year. And I’m not getting any younger. And I Want to make it up there at least one more time.

Hi from Vashon Island Wa. Where to go after Salem? That time of year the coast is great. We love Cape Disappointment SP with its 2 light houses and great beaches, Coast Guard station for watching the entrance to the Columbia River, Long Beach penninsula, then if time permits, up the coast and around the Great Peninsula stopping at Kalaloch, and Shi Shi Beach, then around to Salt Creek Campground with a side trip to Hurricane Ridge (don't miss this drive but no trailer). We will order clear skies and sunshine for you (except in the rain forest).
At Cape Disappointment SP
At Salt Creek CG

Those are some beautiful places!
As luck would have it, we have proven to be adaptable once more. Since we would be too early to Glacier NP, we decided to flip our itinerary. We are leaving our AS. in Salem to have some work done at Ultimate Airstream. Then pick him up the third week of July and head to Glacier.
I know that some of you have been around there, so as we loop back to So. Cal in early August,
we will ultimately pass through Salt Lake and Las Vegas. So I as we leave Whitefish headed towards Pocatello, instead of i-15, what about rte93 ? Or some other ideas?

Back on your way south...
My I suggest on your way south, stop off at Lassen National Park. Some nice camping, great things to do and see! In June there might still be snow.... so check before heading up!
Have fun!

Overnight at Ana RV Park @ Summer Lake, OR. 100 miles south of Bend. Great spot heading south to catch 395 to CA and Lassen NP.

If you have day available before or after the rally you should see Silver Falls State Park. Just leave the trailer and drive up for the day about 35 miles. Many hiking trails and more waterfalls than you have time for.
