1 Park Model + 1 Airstream + Indio = ?
Since the Mayan calendar end of world scenario went bust, I figure a few more years might remain, and we are thinking time to get out of the rain and coldy winters. On our trip home last week, we stopped in Indio. And then we went to a couple RV parks, and looked at park model trailers planted in these secure (relatively) communities with an eye to making a big change.
We're thinking of down-vesting by renting our house out in N. Cal. and then buying a park model in a sweet little park in the Indio area. We'd use the park model in the winter, then lock up, hook up the Airstream and spend the summer traveling and rallying.
The new park models looked really great, and had plenty of room for what we need.
Q: Anyone here own one of these in a park? Or had experience in these parks as to the living? I know we all tend to see what we want to see and not see beyond. Frankly, it's looks really attractive to me. It's quite low cost and seems to be efficient. Low maintenance, secure, etc.

We are spending a few months at Voyager park in Tucson, AZ that has perhaps 800-1000 park models and hundreds of RVs. If you are 55+ that's the way to go. Large parks have amenities, activities and security.
It is a community of friends with every kind of activity under the sun, never a dull moment, gated entrance, restaurant, golf, post office, hotel, pools, wood shop, craft shops, you name it. A buzz of activity every day, socials, musicals, dances at night.
Used park models in nice condition $8-$20K plus annual rent, electric.

We spent a night at Rincon West in Tucson and it sounds similar. We like it a lot, and we liked Tucson in general. It looked like a manageable sized city with some interesting offerings. Tucson seemed to be generally about 1/2 the price (or so) of Indio. Especially in the rents. Thanks for the info!
