Sounds like a great first trip. Congratulations. We too really enjoy the Florida panhandle campsites. Black Water River is a nice one.

So far the only hilly terrain has been around Smith Mountain Lake. The Suburban did fine but you had to take your time. Only got about 8.5 MPG in mountains. With the 4 wheel brakes on the Airstream and tow mode on the Suburban the downhills were easy.
We are thinking about going west next winter but would take I-10 across to stay out of the cold and in the mostly flat.

You are right. Made the 1991, 93, 95 and part of 1997 deployments with CVW-8. The first 3 on TR and the last on JFK. What a small world. Was with VFA-15 on the first two and CVW-8 staff for the last two.

Thought so! I was With VAQ-141 in 93...on the same planning team with you.
We pick up our 2019 FC27FB from Colonial in two weeks, then off to the Canadian Maritimes later this year. Small world!

Congrats! Our “home base” is in Pensacola. A lot to see in the pan handle and around the bend on the gulf side toward central FL. We headed north to Lake Michigan and will start our journey East soon towards Maine. We are looking forward to warm weather again.

Have a great time in FL. Welcome to the club.

Mystic Springs Pensacola FL

Try Mystic Springs Cove located in McDavid FL just north of Pensacola FL it is on Escambia River and has several lakes close by. It is quiet, shaded and rural. Close enough to go to Pensacola for Naval Air and Space museum, beaches, several historical parks, and plenty of shopping. Not far from Alabama as well.

Love the sales staff at Colonial. Patrick Botticelli is the absolute best in sales. Congratulations on your purchase and first trip.
