Still Confused!

Okay guys, I asked the question about the 89 Airstream on Ebay. It looked like an Avion to me but someone said it was the Airstream answer for a wide body. I retrieved it from my trash bin and still can't believe this is a Airstream. I e-mailed the guy who had it and he said it was a Land Yacht, but I sure do question it. It is a 29' and even the inside has the Avion features. Did anyone else think this might not be an Airstream? It sold for $7200.51.

I didn't see the listing you're referring to, but the answers you received on the other thread are correct. 1989 was the first year that Airstream made the oft nicknamed "squarestream". Official designation was a Land Yacht. (They actually mad a few 5th wheels too!)

Check out some pics here to compare: http://glennvice.com/airstream.htm

Look in the completed items. It was a ''Squarestream". Looked just like the picture that the "Great Pumpkin" linked. Had a lot more room than my 27 footer, but didn't have the great looks. Can't believe it sold for $7200, as it was in pretty rough shape. I emailed the seller & he said it didn't have any outer dents, but it looked like it had water damage inside.

Lee -- Some but not all rallies are publicized in threads asking for interest, helping understand what campground slots are for Airstreams, and a lot of just plain chat. Rallies may be held annually, so keep your eyes open 4-6 months in advance if you want to attend the following year. Rallies can be found in the Rally Calendar. Forums rallies are unstructured, probably with a potluck dinner publicized in advance, and usually have an afternoon for tours of everybodys' Airstreams. A member usually coordinates -- that contact info and the sign-up are a click away on the rally page in the Rally Calendar section. You have to make your own campground reservation -- sooner the better if you want to be near the gang. It's a big "Y'all come!" The secret handshake is that there is no secret handshake.
