bump

This was about to drop off the portal. While I normally don't bump threads, I feel this is a worthy cause, and the more people that see it, the better.

Thank you for not dropping us.
It is hard to get any history on this fine trailer when you are the step'child of the Airstream family. But we will keep trying

On my 1989 the date made is on a plate outside of trailer on left forward side about floor level it also has VIN number on it.Mine is 8-17-1988
Go to Airstream, Inc :: Home click on Noth America,Click on site map in lower left,go down and click on FAQ,then down to VIN number.this will decode VIN # .
The 6th place J in your shows that it is a "framed shell,96"wide body,swept surface,SINGLE DOOR,Painted exterior."
The 10th place should be G for 1986 not a 6. 6=2006
Hope this will help you let me know if the 6 is a G.
your's is the lowest sequential number I have to date.
Thanks

I just looked at my unrestored pics in my gallery, the 2nd photo (click on photo a couple times to enlarge) you'll see where vin decal used to be.

Couldn't tell you,it was gone when I bought it.Appears to have been a decal with a plastic type covering. No holes left behind if it was metal. Where's your vin stamped on the frame at? Mine is on top the frame beside the l.p. tanks.

New squarestream owner happy to see the clan news

Took me two years to find the 1987 33' I bought and now I've put my foot in it, as the saying goes. While years ago I was a student woodworker my sense of what to do with this new element in my life is unsteady feet. It's surface sidewall is relatively with fresh paint and looks great. I suspect I'll want to paint above the drain channel line which wasn't given a fresh coat. Any advice on that?
The interior is tired, not worn but largely ignored in hot Sacramento sun year after year. The fabric is breaking down in most ways. The valences mostly show strains of leaking and in one spot near the emergency back window the wall above and below is plainly rotten. I presume I will hope to empty out much of the rear bedroom details and freshen that with newer wallboard like a wainscoating for the lower portion of the wall and then replace, as needed, the rest above. What do you find behind what you can see to attach fasteners to? Any specific advice about surface wall panel replacing is most appreciated. I seem to remember Wanderer 1 did a spiffy restoration of his square Argosy and it inspired me.
I've had this about a month and a half and haven't even tried the appliances out of ignorance and the book that came along with it is all schematics and no practical "hold valve b and turn clockwise" sort of guidance.
I bought this for a spare residence and doubt it will have much traveling if any. It's by the coast. If I really like it and can manage the mechanics I may try to find a small towable one which is what lit my fuse originally. They're just so nice to look at vs. the competition.
I'm glad to see the pictures and stories of others with this similar pleasure and hope to be able to add something of value as time passes.

Cheers..Ned
