The "square" Airstreams and Argosy's were both fiberglass.
There are a few owners here but they are often elusive, maybe one will pipe in here soon. They are nice trailers also and I am kinda keeping an eye out for one myself.

All,
It takes a big man to admit when he is wrong and I am not a big man.

You're partially right, Chas, they undoubtedly do have fiberglass insulation.
I visited one last year and was invited in for the tour. Because of the squared-off shape, they feel much more roomy inside than the Classic models and they have a lot more storage. Quality, both inside and outside, was very evident; for a 20-year old trailer, the one I visited was in terrific shape. They just don't have the panache that the rivets and the shape of the Classic model confer. If I were looking for a full-time Airstream, I think the Squarestream would do an admnirable job and be much more comfortable to live in.
The Squarestream reminds me a lot of the 34' Avon that was parked next to me last week. It had all the visual charm of a freight car, but it was obviously a roomy and well built trailer.

It appears that in the Model year 1992 only that the last of this model was indeed made of Fiberglass walls.. Of course this being the Land Yaught Series. All other years had the aluminum ext.
In my ongoing search for another Airstream I have run across this ad for an Argosy, square as in the Squarestreams. Look at the description below the ad. Appears to be aluminum skinned.
I am not sure if they had ducted heat & air though, anyone know??
Also,
If anyone runs across one of these drop me a line, 27 footer or less but don't think there was anything less than the 27's.
(But would prefer the Airstream though over the Argosy)
My 1991 Squarestream sales brochure says, "The Airstream Land Yacht travel trailer is back -- all new and better than ever. New high-gloss fiberglass construction gives you greater strength, easier maintenance, and lower cost."
Then on the innovative technological leadership it has, "ADVANCED CONSTRUCTION - Our ------ ------tm process joins the aluminum roof and side wall with unbelievable precision." But it does not say the side wall is aluminum.

I've seen a FIBERGLASS - white - Argosy Squarestream and toured it inside and out. I've also seen an ALUMINUM Airstream Squarestream and toured it inside and out.
I nearly bought a FIBERGLASS Airstream Squarestream on e-bay. It sold for only $4K and someone beat me to the buy it now.
Seems to me there must be a difference between model years. Let's all do some detailed research. Term papers will need to be fully footnoted, with pictures, pictures, pictures.
Oh BTW, there's an Airstream 5th wheel on our classifieds right now, and it looks like it's aluminum.
Here are some photos of a very nice Squarestream that was at the Texas State Vintage Rally several weeks ago. We had a tour of the inside. It was just as pristine as the exterior.
