Looking at buying a square stream

I have a 1975 25 ' land yacht.

I am looking at maybe purchasing a square stream. It is a 1989 26'. Anybody know the pros and cons? Seems like they are airstream quality. But with an Argosy resale value.

Ohhh, no offense to Argosy owners... Really. Silver Streak, Argosy and the like all have their own alure... I am just curious about the square stream and chose a poor way of inquiring into their resale ability.

Airstream Life recently did a comprehensive article on the subject. Can't remember if it was the most recent issue or previous one. It would add some insight.

If this is realy a 26 ft 1989 Squarestream it will be the first 26 ft made that year that we know about and would be a rare find.In 1989 we only know of 29,32and 33ft with front kitchen being made.
In 1991/92 the fiberglass squarestream Airstream add had watch for the 26ft.We have found only one 26 ft fiberglass trailer.
The 1989 squarestream is a good trailer. But like all Airstream of that time you need to look at the floors, look is side storage compartment as this door leaks. Also at the entery door floor.
You can look at Lee Field 1989 project under squarestream and see some of the leak problems.
Airstream life summer magazine has the history about squarestreams.
Good luck

alright then. so, it is not likely that it is truely a 26 foot as advertised. Hmmmmm. Have to ponder that one. This one has a side kitchen adjacent to the front door with side dinette, a front couch, and a rear bed room. Is this config. familiar? I have to drive about 500 mi to look at it and want to have a heads up on what is in store...

Are there really no 26 foot 1989 models? Or are there just none known of???

I really don't want much longer than the 26 foot model as advertised...

I have a 25 foot 1975 land yacht. It has needs... I just want something I can use with the family.

In bad need of some time away from the rat race.

Pepsi, I've noticed some owners don't include the hitch when stating the size so add the 3ft and it makes it a 29. Thought I could help out a little more but the brochures I have is for 1987 and 1991. In 87 the "squargocy" was made in 27, 29, 32 and 33. Interesting is the GVWR for the 27, 29 and 32 are all the same 7300 lbs.
Let us know what you find out.

Pepsi:

We purchased a 1992 29' Squarestream several months ago (to keep us on the road while we shopped for another Classic) and have been very pleased with ours. This has been one of the most comfortable trailers we've ever owned (our 3rd). I believe it has a lot to do with the renovations the previous owners had made and the nice soft wood accents in the trailer. It just feels "homey." You just step foot in the trailer and immediately you can feel yourself begin to relax.

The one thing I have found in our Squarestream, and seem to notice other Squarestream owners make, is the wallpaper wrinkling and coming away from the walls at the corners along the street and curb sides. I have done everything I can to try to get it to lay back down without much success. I've just decided that the drapes cover most of it up and I enjoy every other aspect of the trailer that it's not that big of a deal.

Jimmini is the resident expert on Squaresteams here on the Forums. He has done so much research that if you have any questions he would be your go-to guy for answers.

Good luck. If the one you are looking at is anywhere near the condition of ours I think you'll be very happy with your purchase.

Thanks for the input. Hope to know more about it soon. I think this will be worth the drive south to check out.

Sound like a 29 ft.
As far as we know now 26 ft was only made in 1991/92 and we have found only one for the registry.

Jimmini, We have found another of your elusive 26ft Tupperware Squarestreams in Ohio.
It was manufactured 12-12-91 and its VIN is 45ZGYJK29NJ201245 It is for sale by the current owner. Found it on the Craigs List for Columbus Ohio. Owner says there was a leak in the rear curb corner and the Luan and flooring has some issues.
The A-frame has splotchy rust on it, so wonder about what you can't see underneath.
