1988 Squarestream 29ft. Project Here we go.....

I could not find a suitable forum for my new addition a 1988 Squarestream...but the coloring is similar to the Excella....and this forum was not being used...

I want to keep track of my progess in returning this coach to usability...it will not be quick, and lot of work will need to be done...follow if you care to....and please jump in and tell what I am doing wrong and how to fix it. Other then reading the AS forums..i have no history in doing any of this kind of work...

some items to note;

Exterior is in prime condition

Interior is in medium condition...

this coach was lived in for 3 years after purchase and has since set in a rv park and only been opened up a couple of time per year...

Inside is where the work will need to be done...the rear bedroom has a twin bed, floor rotted thru till is is literally gone in place...but only seems to be around the walls may not be under the bed...front lounge will need floor repair in front of door...and under the couch along the walls...

first things first and this is where i will start tomorrow...carpet and vinyl must come out to see how extensive the rot is ...

PO says they left the windows open a crack, hence the rot under the two windows that were left open...

also some of the ceiling headliners will have to come out and some fo the wall material in the bedroom will have to come out

Squarestream....

Nice looking trailer!!!!!!! Quite a find.... Not selling, are you?! Always wanted the most unique of the unique RV's out there....

What, if I may ask, was the price of the unit?

Judging from the limited interior shots, it looks pretty good in there.... Did you just not want to show the , ahem! areas?

All in all, looks like it will be GREAT when you finish with it/her - got a name yet?

Keep those photos coming!!!!

Ciao

Axel

The exterior looks to be in excellent condition.I've always liked the Squarestreams. They're different, unique and somewhat rare. I'll bet it'll look fantastic after restoration.Keeps us up to date with progress photos.

Talking Work in the Rear Bedroom

lots of wood rot in the bedroom Airstream used pressboard which when wet swells up and just rots...

also noticed that a sprayed insulation was put in..
does not appear that the wood was attached to the shell itself but to the frame only...i did not find any screws or bolts attaching to shell...

floor is currently out about 1/2 way up...about 4 foot...pink insulation found in belly pan...all cleaned up...will have more pic tomorrow...hope to have marine ply in tomorrow night..

you are on the right track...once you get the flooring done and stop the leaks the rest will be fun. Should be a great trailer.

There is just something wrong with a square Airstream, but at the same time, I just gotta say, it's really cool to see something so unusual!

Good luck with the project....and stay away from those Dometic fridges manufactured between a certain date (like the one in my 04 Safari).

I saw my first Squarestream at the local RV place about 5 years ago and it was for sale. I really liked the looks of the trailer but had a '77 Excella 500 31' at the time so there was no sense in asking what the sale price was. I peered through the windows and liked what I saw inside. It sure seemed to have alot more room inside than my '77 or my current '86 Sovereign 25'.
