isn't the shower over the toilet while you sit?? To think that i wanted to buy it but not for 65.000 and it did not have a ahower. If that is true you made my day.
David sold it to a motorcross rider or prof. motorcycle rider who lives not far from us, but I do not have his name. I heard he was to live in it, but with no shower????????????
ARe you sure?????????? no shower. did dave get your question correct. also the rig was featured in the blue beret a few months back. Not bad when it belonged to the CEO of airstream, do think he had any influence on free press advertising.

I do believe the CEO paid way more than the 65,000. I will try to get a closer look up front and pesonal if possible and report back. For an oldie that looks great they are not at all cheap. David built it for the CEO and then did him a favor by seliing it for him.

Rollerboy - Surely you jest? The amount of shop time alone would be astronomical, not even including compensation for his creativity & personal time. Then, there's always a profit to figure in there somewhere. Worth $65K? You bet.
Sides that, there are always folks for whom cost simply is NOT a factor when it comes to something they want. Lucky them . . . .

$65k for a David Winick trailer? Not one of those Airstream produced Winick trailers, but a real Winick Design produced trailer? In a heart beat my friend. I have been very fortunate to establish a personal friendship with David. I was recovering a trailer in Upper Michigan and asked if I could stop in and visit.
He was working on that Wee Wind at the time and it has become his own personal trailer. David is a VERY talented artist. He does the finest quality work on his trailers. Owning one of his trailers would be like owning a Picasso.
At International David came to my rig and ate Dinner with us a few times.
He brought wonderful conversation to the mix and has a way of telling you how it is. I admire that approach in a man(or woman, not trying to be sexist). I feel very fortunate have become one of David's friends.

FYI ,The Airstream Factory did all the shell work. they installed new chassis, wiring ,flooring, tanks and plumbing. They also installed new interior metal and polished the interior end caps. An air conditioner was also added and a solar panel system was added at the factory.

Great being the CEO and have the whole team work for you. This trailer is a great example of what vintage shapes, creative design, and craftsmanship could produce.

The factory did not take care of providing the shell work on this one...
Unless you count 1948 as providing the shell.
As anyone who was in Madison can attest, that trailer is beyond perfect.

I was saying that the trailer Dave did for Bob Wheeler;thepolishing, shell, chassis, wiring and plumbing was completed by Airstream Service. Dave Winick did the furniture and accessories.

Still putting it into perspective, $65k for a, totally refurbished, vintage skinned, David Winick, custom built interior and accessories, new as a brand new off the line trailer. All that at the same price as an off the line same old same new Airstream is a good buy if you ask me. That trailer is very highly detailed and who ever bought it is very lucky and also got a very good deal.

Gail, get over it, honestly, there are a lot of us who are FAR more interested in the travel experience than the showering experience. I would NEVER waste space on a shower if redoing a vintage trailer.
Did anybody see or figure out from the text what exactly was used for the interior walls aside from the endcaps?

I am going to have to go with SteSpot on this one. I use to think the shower a novelty. Then a good friend made me a custom shower curtain to fit my shower perfectly. I think my navy shower is the best one of all. I even use the shower in the trailer over any campground shower we stay in. It is so satisfying. Now don't get me wrong, the tow is the best part for me too. But I love my vintage shower.

Wow, Frank.. next thing I know you'll be sporting alumnium rims on Anna with a whale tail too! (tongue firmly in cheek!).
On an off topic note, can you show us the curtain? Fabric, vinyl (which I really don't like in my Argosy, but it is a bit mold resistant)?

65k? I think that sold for less than what it cost to build. Wether done by an artist or a craftsman it takes a ton of hours to do a top quality job.

I do not have a photo. I used a nylon material that is the same as parachutes are made of. I think it is called rip stop fabric and I bought it at Joann Fabrics. It dries very quickly and during the entire season we have seen no signs of mold. I dries in a very short time. The tub in a 62 is fairly large and the water does not saturate the entire curtain. I am telling you, the shower in the trailer is great. I only wish I had a tankless water heater so I did not have to turn the water on and off to conserve on the six gallon Atwood.

I am a huge fan of David Winick's designs and craftsmanship. His work is incredible and has been a major source of inspiration for my own renovation.
$65K would definitely be a bargain for that trailer, and likely sold at a loss compared to the time it took to craft the unit.
