Vintage Anomaly on eBay
This should never have been created:
A fine Vintage Airstream was harmed in the making of this motorhome. I'm sure the sellers father who created it was proud of his creation, but this is just wrong (IMHO). In case one of you wants to rescue this "conversation piece", check out this eBay auction: 270045029364.

I realize this is crass but I'm thinking
B=
BOWEL MOVEMENT
that thing is wrong.... so who wants to buy it? We could blow it up at a rally? Come on.... it would be fun.....

"And what exactly does the "B" stand for????"
Motorhomes are classed as A, B or C. A's are bus style, B's are converted vans, and C's are built on a truck cab/chassis.
Actually, it looks like a pretty good job. Would look better if the A/S part were newer, tho.

I think this is a more appropriate slide in... sad but strange none the less. Looks like a very nice vintage unit gave it's life for this .... words escape me!

Not only did a very nice vintage unit give its' all for that morphodite-looking thing, a very good-looking Airstream was wasted in the same process.

Glen, thanks! I think a picture of this same unit was posted here a couple years back. It (or its first cousin) was wearing Canadian* plates at the time and photographed in a Florida shopping center. The shell would have lasted forever. Too bad the tow vehicle won't ...
*The eBay ad suggest a Massachusetts origin in this case.

actually...
that's not far from Wally's reality. In Airstream Life Winter 2006, the photographer from Cape town to Cairo (I think that was the rally with National Geographic) described his "motorhome" that the factory made for him and Wally's son. Basically, it was a trailer body on a I.H. p/u chassis (sp).. not that different in concept to this.
Again, I kind of like it.

A nice small Airstream died for this abomination - maybe that's a little too strong.
I have a few questions about it:
It looks like the wheel wells give absolutely no extra clearance to the tires.
Aren't most ambulances diesel?
Must be new front seats. I don't think ambulances ever had plush seats...or it really isn't an ambulance chassis.
Why didn't the seller at least clean up the trash on the floor before taking pictures?
It looks like everything inside is not original. This year AS didn't have plastic molded showers. The whole sink, refrigerator, stove top is not original.
This was a 1950's 13 panel end cap trailer !!!. At first when I saw the blue stripe, I assumed it was a 1970's trailer. Then I saw the window style (of which I am intimately familiar ) and the 13 panels.
To be fair, if this vehicle and AS were put together in the 1970's - early 1980's, the restoration craze had not started. The builder probably just "rescued" an old "junk trailer" and gave it a new life.
