I live in Alabama and have a wonderful uncle that said he would remodel my 1977 excella if I could get it to Pennsylvania. Does anyone know if U Haul or the likes allow towing trailers? I called and they seemed very vague on the answer. Anyone have any experience towing with U Haul or Budget, etc?
* U-haul trucks have an odd size ball welded to the bumper, so you can't tow anything but a U-Haul trailer , tow dolly or trailer. If you try to tow something else the ball will be either to small or to big for standard couplers. They only have a 4 wire box for their light set up. *
* This from a former U-Haul dealer in the 80's .
BTW their truck bumper is 8' wide. This would most likely crunch the Airstream in a tight turn if you could hitch up.

I used a uhaul a tow my airstream about 5 miles when my truck had mechanical issues and was in shop and needed to get airstream off campsite. It has been over ten years but I remember there was no issue with the ball size of turning radius. I think it is correct no seven pin connection. I think I skipped the hookup since it was only a few minutes but you could probably easily rig running lights. Just no brakes. Still, not an easy setup and I think the rental ends up getting pricey when you have to pay per mile. I suggest you look at using uship.
