Silver Streak Clipper cabinets started

I am trying to make some progress in restoring my 1951 SS Clipper. While the weather is to cold to pull it out of storage. So I started some cabinet work. Mine has rear twin beds. The cabinet in the rear of the trailer had been removed and replaced with a cedar table many years ago.

The original beds looked like this. Zigzag deck with inner springs covered with musty cotton.

I saved the framework and removed the zigzags and covered the frames with 1/2" plywood. I found a mattress company that will build me new inner spring mattresses that will work just like the original. But they will be comfortable and smell new!

I wanted a TV in the trailer but did not want it out in the open. So I built this cabinet with a vertical drawer to hold a 19" TV/DVD. When I want to watch, I just pull it up and lock it open. I stole the magazine rack design from an old Shasta.

Thanks for the kinds words. I have lots to do with this trailer, but wanted to take advantage of my shop time, while I wait for warmer weather. I need to paint the inside, run new electric and water and a host of other stuff. I have to replace all 4 alien windows. I'm itching to start . There will be lots of questions for those that have done this before me.

I just spent the day hanging insulation. My 1952 Clipper sees some serious inspiration. Tomorrow 12 VDC wiring.

Our 1951 remodel in process!

fun seeing your remodel, I'm knee-deep in ours! Did you polish up the silver cupboards? I wanted to clean ours up, but not POLISH them to have the shiny chrome look...yet nothing is cleaning up the old scuff marks and water marks. I've also been trying to match the green paint because 80% of ours is good, but not having luck on that either....
