There's an old vintage AS called an Airlite, '54 I believe, and 13 ft. Very, very rustic yet not in horrible condition. I guess you'd call it a one person bachelorette; no lady I know of would want to have anything to do with this thing; no bathroom, tiny cook area, like I said, very, very rustic. Just wanted to know if anyone is familiar with this "Airlite" , and should I run from it as fast as I can.
I can't find any other google information on your question. Maybe you could have one of a handful? It could be quite the showpiece at rallies if it's the least bit artful in design and execution. You can bet on a lot of work -- and then triple your estimate. It sure isn't an Airstream though.
Whether you do or don't get this direction we'd sure appreciate some pictures for curiosity sake at some point.

Airstream did make an "Airlite". Maybe AKA Silver Cloud? As a matter of fact, I've seen one. But it's a pre-war Airstream and more like 15 foot. Check this at RJ Dial's site. Does your '54 Airlite sighting look anything like this? Dial lists it as an Airlite in the index but refers to it as a Silver Cloud in the photos.
Here is a pic of the current owner's copy of the original ad for this trailer.

If you search AirForums you will find more on Airlight. Here is one such thread: How many can you name?
It has been said that Airlights were made for a year or two in the mid 1950's around 1955 give or take and then they changed name or were bought out by El Rey. I have no proof of this fact, but it has been reported in other threads.
Airlight seems to have only made short trailers (say 16' or less) and some had the door on the rear and some on the side. El Rey started making longer trailers after the name change.
I suspect that the 1950's Airlight had no relation to a 1930's Airlite also mentioned in this thread.

What these folks that have it told me was that a couple of guys broke off of Airstream and started Airlite. A couple of years later they were sued by Airstream and forced to start yet another company that folded a short time later. The small model came in a " rear door" configuration, and then the model they had, of which only 2 ( according to their research) were ever made (this one does not have a rear door). It was very basic indeed. I really thought it had potential, w/ a little creativity, to be something cool ... I actually liked how small it was. They want around 4K. It seems to look like canoestream bob's photo of 6/22 at 9:46 a.m.
Now, that is a cool trailer. $4K is worth it if you want it badly enough. It's not truly an Airstream, but the cool factor is definitely there. It would certainly be welcome at AIRforum rallies in my neck of the woods.
Have you decided if you want to persue this little gem?
