New Television in an Old Box
Hi All --
Thought we'd share the 'new' piece we just added to our 1952 Royal Spartanette livingroom.....
A friend had the cabinet from a 1955 Admiral TV, and so we bought it from him, had another friend shorten the depth (it was very long to accommodate the old tv tubes), and then we installed our flat screen inside. To our amazement, the remote will work the tv through the glass, and then the converter box sits on the floor underneath and works great.

What a fun idea! Great project, and far lighter than a tube t.v. anyhow.
My only tweak (being a perfectionist) would be to somehow shrink that rounded hole so you don't see any corners of the plasma at all.

Thanks for the comment. Yeah, we know you shouldn't be able to actually SEE the corners of the flat screen inside, but we already had the tv, and it just so happened that the tv fit inside. Maybe one day we could get a tv to fit a little better, but for right now, we're not the Rockefellas, we're the 'other fellas'.

Exactly. Well, it looks just great and personally I wouldn't want to watch ' The Long, Long Trailer' on anything else.

Very nice addition. A TV in a cabinet really works well in a trailer, from several aspects.

How fun is that? What a great idea! Do you have other photos of that Royal Spartanette on the forums? I'd love to see more of it!
