Out of the brush and onto the road for bearings and tires.
It takes a deep hole to change a tire on a Spartanette. The floor jack was useless. Very tight clearance under the siding.
My friend Fred demonstrating how lay in a hole just after my demonstration of how to dig one..
These new bearing packers really work well.
Tow lights for the trip home.
Decades old contact paper on the dinette had to go the first night. Dinette pulls way out and has two big leaves. Pushes in flush with the legs on the
base. Needs refinishing for sure.
This stuff is petrified until heated. The pics don't show the glue left behind.
Out with the green shag to see what shape the linoleum is in. Not bad except under the front window and where the old oil furnace sat.

Been super busy all week and haven't gotten to have any trailer time until tonight after work. The wifey and I spent four straight hours scrubbing with Murphy's, then straightened things up a bit and celebrated at midnight with a glass of wine. Cheers!

Your last picture in post 17 gives a sense of scale to the floor tiles. Are they 9" x 9"? That would be vinyl asbestos tile (VAT) if that's the case. Just don't use a power saw or grind on the stuff.
What a glorious find. You were definitely in the right place and at the right time. Keep us posted on your progress because we all love those old Spartans too. Do you plan to travel with the old girl or set it up in a permanent setting?
If you are not aware, check out the Spartan "Group" on Yahoo. Lots of great info on there as well.
Keep us posted!
Yep. I hang out there too. Good group.
BTW, There is a lady in California who has the same model. It is one of three 131's that I personally know of and in good condition. She has used it as a cottage for many years and the county has forced her to move it off her property and store it, so it's for sale. Check it out on SF Bay area Craigslist. Her name is Millie and she's 81. A real kick in the pants too!
Anyway, this weeks work has been lots of wiring, plumbing and other boring stuff.. I spent most of my free time working on my latest 1961 Holiday House (a whole other story). This weeks scrounging netted me a nice panelray propane heater and a full set of KD540 glass marker lights for the Spartanette! Major score! I saved them from an early '50's Columbia that a rancher was getting ready to crush and haul off for scrap. I also grabbed the Western Holly "Californian" range out of it too, just in case someone needs one. Cleaned up nice.

Holy Cow! That's fantastic! Great find... how's it tow? Is it tandem axle or single... that sure seems to be a bear to change the tires... how heavy is it?
