Looking for a '47-'49 Curtis Wright

I'm looking for a '47-'49 Curtis Wright to restore (though I don't know that I'm up to handling a bare gutted shell, as I've seen some of them). I'm not an authenticity Nazi; a "historically sympathetic restoration" is what I have in mind, so it's OK if it's not all original. I don't know what they go for these days in that condition-- anyone want to clue this newbie in?-- so I won't name a dollar figure right now.

Thanks! My email address can be created by joining bellowsburst with the domain name yahoo.com.

It all depends on how much you want one.

Welcome to the Forums

FLYRC is the one posting the 46, he's trying to sell it for a friend. You might PM and see what kind of deal you could work out. He's a real good guy.

Thanks for the welcome, Aero; I'm glad this place exists. Vintage trailers are wonderful.

Thanks also for the tip, but you're right, that's not what I'm looking for. Canned-ham trailers are historic and interesting, but I'm looking for one of the streamlined kind. I guess I should have said that.

Melody, I'm guessing you mean "how much money I'm willing to throw to get one." That's always the rub, isn't it? This is one reason I'd prefer to restore one myself, so as to spread the total costs out over time. (Another, of course, is the masochism fun of restoration. )

Thanks!

Thanks! The one on eBay would do as a substitute, stylistically speaking, and I'm keeping an eye on it now, but the interior has been pretty well gutted, and I'm not wild about the puncture of the aluminum. Maybe if it goes cheap enough...

The one in Malibu, barn-kept or not, is way too expensive. Guess that's Malibu for you.

Come to think of it, does anyone know what transportation costs might be on your average trailer across the continent? I've looked at that for cars on eBay Motors, but I don't know what they'd charge for a trailer, which no doubt can't go on your average car-carrier.
