Little Trailer Reissue is Pretty Cool!

Howdy Gang,

In addition to being an Airforums Member, I'm also a member of the Silver Avion Fellowship, and the Tin Can Tourists.

For those in the market for a small trailer, one that can fit into any campground site, and a neat little repro, check out this reissue of the 1961 Shasta! I can't tell you how many people I know, growing up, that had these old Shasta trailers. Well anyway, this new reissue sure looks like the originals, only improved.

I've got my 36' Avion for the big trips, but I'd like to have one of these little guys to use for short trips and state parks where my "whale" might not fit. It's a cute little trailer and can be towed by just about anything.

Cheers,

Beautiful! What a great idea. Wonder what they'll charge for that? At the right price point (I'd say sub $17.5k) they'll sell out.

Really beautiful trailer!!

Hi from AZ. . . VERY cool ! and $15k seems like a righteous price. Love the modern features either incorporated or hidden. Nicely done, regards, Craig

Yep, $15K. Reinergirl beat me to it

I know it's not an Airstream, but it looks like they did go to great pains to seal the corners well and he even said his '61 that he took apart to reverse engineer had no leaks at all after 50+ years.

Make a neat little rig

On first blush I was thinking the price might have been twice 14K.

I'm sure they'll sell all of these they make. The size isn't intimidating, the price is really good and they did a great job recreating "the look" of a Shasta. The wooden grille hiding the AC unit looks really good, but I wonder how much it cuts down the airflow (AC is always on my mind in Texas in August!)

Perhaps he misspoke about the number they're going to make. He said they're only going to make 1,941, but I wonder if they're going to make 1,961.

Oh, and they worked really hard to hide the fact that the Cadillac with very-wrong wheels has no hitch.

1941 because that is when the first Shasta was made.
I had a '69 Shasta 14' Starflight. Great little unit. My son has it today. The tongue weight was about 200 pounds. I could lift it by hand and hitch it up.

Love it! If I "needed" another trailer this might be the one.

Very cool, and great price if truly around 18k - looks like he takes pride in this product, would buy over a similar sized Airstream (Bambi or Sport) any day of the week!

This is another maker of retro trailers. I have looked at them at the local dealership and they seem well made.

I ran across this a few days ago and it's really given me something to think about. I'm having the hardest time finding "the" Airstream I want (early 60's Safari) in a price point/condition I'm comfortable with and have in the past several weeks found myself getting desperate and thinking of settling for another vintage camper. This would be a great potential interim compromise--great price point, early 60's vintage charm, but new and ready to go, so I could start using it now. And it may make me more comfortable with more of a project trailer later, as, if I've already got a camper ready to go, that project could truly be a thought out project with less pressure to just "get her done" and on the road.

They just seem so tiny though...

I went ahead and but a deposit on a 19 ft green one. They are making 19 foot trailers but not many dealers are talking about them. I going to sell 3 of my 4 vintage trailers and then take my time restoring a 1947 Airstream liner I recently purchased. It seems like all I do is work on my trailers and I want to camp. I just could not buy a "modern" trailer and I looked at too many polished turds to buy some one else’s restoration. I think these little trailers are the best of both worlds.

If I had an extra 15k to spend I would look at one of these pretty hard.

I like it.

We have order one in yellow. We will be keeping our AS too. Our sway bars swing both ways. We were thinking about buying a new 16 foot AS for 45k. But our new Shasta has all the same features for a third of the price. Plus a very retro cool feeling. They are only making 1941 units and will be come very collectible. I have been told that they are almost sold out. The MSRP in $17,500 but Comfort RV is honoring the $14,999 price.

Nice little unit. I am not sure why the outdoor speakers. Those are a feature that everyone camping next door to someone with them wishes was never invented.

I'm just wondering about the AC coming from floor vents - hot air rises - with feet be cold and the rest of the trailer hot?
