Is this an AirStream??? if not...WHat???

We just saw this rig in a field in Texas. It was too far away to read the
writing above the front window.
Is it an old Airstream or an old Navion?

My guess is Avion.

By looking at the many segmented strips of aluminum at the corners my guess is an Avion also which is common with their trailers.

Looking at the photo I think the nameplate is Airstream. Too many letters for Avion.

I'm far from an expert on 1950s 13 segment Airstreams -- but think those would have door-in-a-door. Looks like an Avion anyway.

i'm far from an expert too but i do have a 13 panel '56 flying cloud and i'd say the trailer in the pic is an avion. also in regards to bob's comment about the door i do have the door within a door but also my door is rounded at the top and this trailer has a square top to the door.

Could it be a Silver Streak or one of the other Airstream clones of the '50's?

I would guess a mid sixties Avion. Here is a side by side of my 68 Airstream and 59 Avion.

From the Wonder-Bread loaf shape, battery box and Doughboy rear vent, Its definatly an Avion.
Patina and vent placements, would sugest a 1963-1965 Sportsman 18'.
Can't polish it, its anodized. But definatly worth dragging home and cleaning up.
I might even bet a 6 pack of Henry Wienhart's that the floor is still good.

see page 10 of this brocure:

Don't bet on the floor of an Avion being good. They leak too. However, you can bet for sure, with greased wheel bearings, the AXLE is still good.

Many thanks to all who have helped solve the puzzle.
The second riddle....I initially called it a Navion, which was an aircraft company.
I wonder if Navion and Avion were related

Keep Smiling...

Thanks to all who responded.....

After all the input, I did a google search for vintage avion and lo and behold there is a '66-'67 model Avion for sale about 30 miles from the one in the field.
Tin Can Classifieds - Vintage Avion trailer 1966-67 model, excellent shape - Powered by PhotoPost Classifieds

Thanks again...

Bob
