How about an Avion?

Are Avions shunned? ridiculed? beshmirched?

I know this is an Airstream (/ Argosy) site, just wondering if folks around here consider Avions to be brothers in arms or hopeless wanna-be's?

More specifically, we've found a 1964 Avion that looks pretty spiffy...

There are a lot of folks here that like Avions and I even saw one in the Terraport when I picked up the Changes a couple of weeks ago after body work, but I think that despite their appeal, it is general concensus that this is Airstream products only forums. I may be wrong about that, though...check with the moderators on this one.

By the name this is an Airstreams Forum.

However, our first travel trailer was a 1964 20' Avion. Later we acquired an Airstream. In my opinion, the quality of the cabinet work in the Avion was superior to the Airstream.

Avions are good trailers, but you will not find a lot of comrads in arms on this site. Since the construction is similar, feel free to mine the site for information. We won't even throw rocks if you ask the occasional question.

I always enjoy seeing another shiny trailer, no matter what the brand is.

I don't have anything against Avion or other trailers of the same basic design. If a nice one happens to cross my path I would be inclined to get it.
I looked at a few years ago but wasn't ready to purchase at the time.

I haven't found the right Airstream for me. I currently own a '71 Avion 28T and have received some great friendly advice from this forum. I even attended the MidWest Forum Rally and had a great time. If you like the Avion and the price is right, buy itand strat enjoying it. The right Airstream will come along.

You know, I got to thinking about it. We wouldn't shun you for being the red headed step child at the family picnic or anything like that. But I originally thought you were asking about an Avion sub forum. We don't turn our backs on anybody with a question we can help with, but we just don't branch out into other makes besides Airstream products that I'm aware of.

We are Avion as well as Airstream admirers, and, like some other comments above, if a small well-maintained vintage one came our way, we'd snap it up! Both makes are aluminum, share many of the same issues, and some of us may have one of each at times. We've been very impressed by the fit and finish of some older Avions we have seen. Welcome ~G

Avions are nice....

i have owned 3 Avion Trailers and am currently pursuing a small 16ft model....they are well built...i may even think that they were built better then most airstream trailers....imho.....

you can take most of the information on this site and with small adapations apply it to an avion trailer...i was very please with the avion trailers that i have had in the past...

Hey!
I have a '56 Airstream...
And I also have a '62 Avion T-20, a '70 Avion T-28, and a '71 Avion A-25. I used to have a '67 T-22, also.
I'm happy to help you with Avions....
I usually stay quiet around here...but I've also done a shell-off floor replacement of my Airstream.
The folks here are great, and as you've heard, 90% of questions apply to both makes (heaters, water heaters, plumbing, fridges, seams, Vulkem, tires, etc). Some stuff doesn't apply: The floor is a bit different, the frames are a bit different, and the politics are different .

Just when I thought we had this solved, my wife found a Silver Streak she likes even better (and frankly I do too)...

So the same question applies for Silver Streak (1966, 24ft)...

BTW, thanks for the great responses
