From Mobile Home to Travel Trailer - Title Question

Ladies and gentlemen,
First we would like to apologize for the long time of absence and must condense that we missed the forum, but we got really busy lateley, between the AS, the Avion and now THE SPARTAN!
Yes indeed, a 1957 55ft Excecutive Mansion, YES 55 FT!
Well here is the question:
Can we change the title from Mobile Home to Travel Trailer.
Here in FL everything over 40 fits the Mobile Home category according to DMV.
The issue then will be that most RV Parks and Campgrounds don't allow Mobile Homes.
Does anyone ever did anything like it?
I know that in some states the guys doing the bus conversions to motor coach do it so they don't need to get a CDL, so wondering if anyone here knows anything about it.
Thanks again and will post pics of the rescue soon

Glad to see that you are back.

I don't imagine the campground cares. I mean you don't have a big sign on your Spartan saying "mobile home". I would think the problem is that you can't get a license plate for your Spartan. Do you have any sales literature referring to your Spartan as a travel trailer? If so, then that is what it is. I don't see how the DMV can make that determination just on the length being over 40'.

Good luck, Dan

Hi Dan
It's good to see you are still around, BTW how is the AC set up working this summer?
Regarding the Spartan,
No issues so far, but this issue was raised at the DMV when we got there for the title transfer.
We just asked if this was a Rv or how was it titled and they told us that it was a mobile home.
So technically the title only states the empty weight and length but they told us that everyone in FL knows that everything at 40ft and over is a mobile home.
Also once when we went to look at high end 5th wheels for ideas for the Avion we asked why there is nothing bigger like a 40ft and they mentioned that RVs manufacturers don't make them since the FL length limitations and since FL is one of the biggest markets they decided to make them to fit the standards. Not sure about the veracity of the statements from the salesman but we can only share about the DMV.
Actually the DMV is the one that suggested to look into other states that may not have the "size limitations" and hence the reason why we are asking.
So does anyone here with a big Spartan (over 40ft) knows the kind of title they have????

Can u tell them it was a home built? Sorta like aircraft. If you build /rebuild a specific amount it changes classification.

Hi CWF, good to see you!
Unfortunately the hole "home made" when it comes to RVs in FL is a whole new world and still we will have the 40ft length limitation that will make it a Park Model and not a Travel Trailer.
So we have decided to let it go, the Excecutive Mansio found a home in the great State of Texas!
We will star another thread about the Excecutive Mansion, since the rescue mission...
Hope you are doing great, will also start another "camping under the cross" thread, may be we will be able to gather some people this year.
