I would try to find a heavy winch truck that is capable of easing your trailer and pickup down the grade. Since the cable end will need to be attached to your truck the winch operator will have to rig a snatch block close to the ground so that the cable can pass underneath the trailer to your truck. It may take several sets of the winch truck to get all the way down.
You should be able to find a semi winch truck that can handle it.

thank you all for your advice. i was able to recruit a member of the TCT who i had never met to drive 3 hours with her 4x4 F250 to help us; but we arrived and it was not nearly as bad as i remembered it and my husband thought we could do it. we did it in two steps; trackhoe w/ chains tied around tongue backed it down the sites drive to the main dirt 'road' (which only serves 2 homes). we hooked it up from there. we left the parking brake a bit engaged, drove REAL slow, and didnt even bottom out at the bottom of the road!
Luck was on our side today. it took 3+ hours to change the tires. all i had at home were 4 old airstream wheels, so i had new tires mounted on them would you believe THEY FIT on the spartanette? a random stroke of good luck. backing down the drive was maybe 20 minutes.
the bearing seals were not like an airstream and we could not get them off. we stopped every opportunity to check if the bearings were hot. we drove about 45 on a highway home, (passed and honked at 2 airstreams!) and got 14.5 MPG on this 35 ft long trailer!
here she is where she sat since 1962:
side :
other side
shes free!
pulled out, trying to change tires:
she's out! large and in charge!
now for interior pics:
front living room:
cabinets across from center bath
bedroom closet
amazing ceiling condition thanks to being covered:
bathroom photos came out too dark, but totally original except fixtures in shower have different handles.
Now to gut it and convert to a food truck....
(wink wink)

I think she's winking in that first pic. Nice find. Glad you got her out safely!

What a great find and you did a fine job of rescuing this beauty. I came to this thread late, and I was going to offer to help since it sounded like a fun type challenge, but you have already completed the rescue! Great job!

I think that converting it to a food truck is a felony in most states.

My buddy sent me this picture last week. When I saw your photos, I thought these could be one and the same.

Contests! She's a beauty. I'm looking forward to hearing more about the restoration, but from what I seed it doesn't look like she needs much.
Your story reminded me of picking up our Countess. The owner had a very steep dirt driveway and the WD hitch was too low. So we asked him if he would derive it down for us. He got it down safely and we went on our way only to discover the trailer brakes had come disconnected. So it was only out Tahoe brakes holding it back on the steep gravel hill. But at low speeds that was enough.
