HA!
Yea, the skin (of the trailer) really surprised me! That was the main reason I had to get it... The front windows in these trailers were actually plexiglass, so it's not all that hard to replace them: Window*Replacement « The Center for Sustainable Practice in the Arts

OK, well, that's luck, doubt if real automotive glass would be able to be found in that shape.

And WOW! wait till you get that level of polish done. Your skin is smoother than his, I think, yours will be just out of this world...

The "HA" was about the "Talking about the trailer" bit
I sure do think it will shine up nice. I'm planning to do the same thing I'm doing with my Airstream...no polish until all the rest of the work is done...the polishing will be the icing on the cake!

Got her home!

Got the Spartan home finally...well, home being out at my farm until I finish the airstream
I was worried that I would regret getting her and having her sit for 6 months to a year while I get my other trailer finished, but after searching for other Spartans just to test the water I realize how few and far between these trailers are, especially in this shape.

I saw one of these going down the road near Columbia SC a week or so ago and was surprised at their size! That's a big trailer and looks very cool going down the road!

It feels a bit bigger and heavier then my Airstream, but it still tows fairly easy. The steel and aluminum used are both of a heavier gauge then the Airstream. The frame is in better shape then my Airstream was and it's almost 30 years older!! Can't wait to work on it!

This is a 25' Spartan Manor, but in later years they produced longer trailers in the same style, so if it seemed bigger, that might be what you saw.

Spartan made some 50' + trailers later on!! Basically mobile homes. The 1950's Spartans started to be made more cheaply unfortunately, but still looked super cool.

Hey Eric,
Glad to see you brought it home! I'm doing mine the opposite and polishing first. It has gotten a little depressing though. The 65 year old Alclad has seen it's better days, (Pitted). After massive amounts of polishing, I have shiney pitts. Haven't decided if I want to spend that much time polishing for results that would be less than I expect. For know, I'm working on another project but, the Spartan is calling me back. Good luck on yours. And on a side note, after only 6 months of having the Spartan, my wife finally excepted it and started talking to me again!
Dan

How do you tell her?
Well, I sold Harley-Davidson motorcycles for about 5 years, I used to tell those people that it's easier to ask for forgiveness than permission. Hope it went well.
